Fresh Grabs

I'm between houses and all my stuff is in storage but it's not gonna stop me from still buying blu-rays and records lol

Rejoined VMP for Aaliyah. It's got a scratch at the start of Side A so that needs replacing 😑

Jackie and Sonny i got from Amazon.de (along with the Sony WH-1000XM4 headphones).

EPMD and Smoothe Da Hustler are all OG US pressings from Superfly Records.

For RSD we hit Street Corner Records, Detroit Record Club, and Solo Records yesterday. I didn't have much on my RSD list, but it's a day my buddy have been going for a decade now so we continued.
For RSD titles I only got Reigning Sound and Joni, but found a few other things I am excited about.

And, at the third stop Solo) the owner was ringing me up and I expressed my excitement at finding Bone Machine and she said: "You got lucky then, I just put it out there." AND THEN her phone alarm went off and she said: "You just won a t-shirt! I said that whomever I was checking out when this rang, gets one." I was wearing one from a different store that she commented on earlier, so she also said "Congrats, I know you'll wear it!"

So yeah, it was a good RSD.

I want that Tracy Chapman. Been one I've been holding off on just ordering used cause I either want a great pressing or to find it in the wild. It gives me a reason to crate dig more often.

Sorely in need of a repress. In the meanwhile I'd say don't hold off if you ever see it for an even remotely reasonable price!

Today's mail drop...

die Hoffnung - Elegies and Creation Songs
Slipknot - S/T
Our Lady Peace - Spiritual Machines II
Groop - Groop
Violent Soho - Waco
Frankie and the Witch Fingers - Levitation Sessions

Edit: Second time this has happened to me when buying off a small artist on Bandcamp, but just flipped over the record which was shipped out of the jacket in an outer, and there is what I'm fairly certain is a pube in there.

That Chapman still moves me musically and sonically! Not sure if anyone can ever improve the sound on that original.

Nah, the original is stunning. Unless you have a mega playback system I doubt a remaster would improve much of anything or very little at best tbh. Grab a nice, clean $10-20 used copy, have someone run it through a ultrasonic, put it in a anti static sleeve, and be happy. Life is short.

Agreed. I’ve got multiple copies/versions of TC. I feel a bit like a hoarder. :). The OG Promo on Quiex is the best so far. Steller LP. One of my favorites.

Edit: I’ve listened to this LP countless times. Never fails to move me. The irony of having so many copies of an album that so beautifully hits on social justice themes does not escape me.

This LP came out during the start of a big political shift to the right here in the US. Performed on the college campus indie scene during Ronnie Ray-Gun presidency. And the rest is history.

Best of luck finding a $20 copy.
Try 50-60.
