Was gifted this signed test pressing of Crack-Up at work by one of my favorite customers. She knew how important Fleet Foxes are to me, and she wanted me to have it! A truly sweet person that always makes my day better.

The universe was spooky when it came to this.

Without knowing, she gifted this to me on the album’s five anniversary, WOW. Plus, my girlfriend, for which this record holds just as much sentimental value, comes in the store unannounced at the same time. CRAZY!

Also, who knew this album was cut by Ryan K. Smith @ Sterling! Wooo!

Made a great deal here! One of the best I have ever made actually. Sales weeks started on Wednesday in France and this web shop Cultura had a 70% discount on all products on sale! I got a bit late and missed a few bargains (there were more Tone Poet and BN Classics available). Still, I am very happy with this haul:

LOL! So on top of these discounts they sent me a 10€ voucher! So I bought last Billie Marten - Flora Fauna and King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard - Infest The Rats' Nest. Priced 45€, I ended paying 5€. Not bad at all.

Plus: I got my first Blue Note record almost on release day in over 2.5 years.
Negative: a knucklehead at the Amazon Fulfillment Centre just slapped an address label on the shrink wrap so it is bent all to hell. Hope the replacement one comes in a box at least. :(
Only had that happen once from Amazon, with my Goo box set; and surprisingly it made it to my porch unscathed.

Records I ordered from RSD have been trickling in. Received the Prince and Miles Davis records I ordered from RockAndSoul.com, and sad to report the packaging was terrible. They used one of those white boxes that fold over, and it was obviously too small for the two 2LP sets they packaged. Not evidenced in the pictures are the warps on the Miles records. I reached out to them to see what they say, but I will not be buying from them again.

Thanks @Ethos99 for the pretty and powerful Paladin packaging once again!

Dizzy Reece - Star Bright (Blue Note, 1989 Japanese Pressing)
Dizzy Reece - Soundin' Off (Blue Note, 1984 Japanese Pressing)
Freddie Hubbard - Hub Cap (Blue Note, 1992 Japanese Pressing)

I found a decent deal on the 2 Toshiba Dizzy Reece albums and they are clean as hell, with the original inner booklets and OBI's. I then went to the carboot sale today and came away with the Toshiba Freddie Hubbard! Good things come in 3's...

Kenny Graham and his Satellites - Moondog And Suncat Suites (MGM Records, 1958 Pressing)
Ronnie Ross - Double Event (Parlophone, 1959 First Pressing)
Don Rendell & Jimmy Deuchar - Music In The Making (Vogue, 1955 First 7" Pressing)
National Jazz Federation "2nd British Festival Of Jazz" 1955 Programme.
Louis Armstrong National Jazz Federation Paris Special

Im super excited to have the Kenny Graham and Ronnie Ross. The Ronnie Ross in particular is a super rarity that hardly ever appears for sale because of the incredibly low numbers it was released in. The sleeve is essentially laminated paper so usually, they are trashed beyond belief. I was able to get this copy at a fraction of the usual "value". The Kenny Graham contains a suite composed by New York Street musician Moondog, with the B-side being a companion piece that Graham wrote. The Don Rendell/Jimmy Deuchar 7" is the first in a 2 part release. I already have Vol 2 so it's nice to complete the set and hear it in its entirety. Finally, an incredible 67-year-old programme from Britain's 2nd ever jazz festival. I recently learnt of a group called the Hall-Stars, organised by producer Tony Hall which I had never even heard of before. As luck would have it the group performed at the event with "up and comer" Dizzy Reece getting a focused highlight. As I was looking through the programme an additional one for the Louis Armstrong 1955 Paris performance dropped out as well which is an incredible bonus.

Johnnie Taylor - Wanted One Soul Singer (Stax, 2022 Vinyl Me Please Classics Pressing)

I'm looking forward to listening to this one and nice of VMP to throw in a badge as well BUT I think the record might be warped annoyingly.

Vincent DeBoer Limited Prints

Finally just for fun, here are a couple of limited prints from Ill Considered's Vincent DeBoer. Vincent has produced the artwork for all of their albums to date and has certainly developed a signature style. Very happy to have these and will be looking to frame them in the future.

So I bought like…a box of records at the Market Days sale so I am now on a vinyl diet and a single fresh grabs post would be unwieldy. Plus a lot of this stuff is kinda odd? So I want to write my thoughts too and we get a slow reveal and it’s mostly whatever I’m in the mood to spin so there is no logic to value, order, or whatever. Most of this is NM or VG+ on disc, covers will vary.

I posted a few of these elsewhere but this is so much fun I’ll re write

My first spin had to be Julie Ruin - Julie Ruin. This was one of Kathleen Hanna’s many side projects when Bikini Kill was off. I think the rights on this are iffy. KRS claims they don’t have them and it’s one of her few albums not available anywhere. CDs are running at dumb prices so when I saw this below Discogs lowest CD price I had to. It’s gotta be one of her quietest projects and it’s got a bunch of hairlines but damn, even I got 1% cooler owning this one.

To the other side of the equation is one of the most common thrifting records, Linda Ronstadt - Greatest Hits Volume 2. It feels like given the names of the songs are on the cover it should be obvious but this is pretty much a covers album. To hear Linda work her way throug( Zevon, Jagger, and Berry is a treat.

I put this one in the bin diving thread but the wildest thing I dug out of the $1 bin was Skip King’s Endless Journey. A private press psych-roots effort by a singer who disappeared off the earth. This is on YouTube and I think the recording quality was just iffy but it’s really worth a listen if you have an inclination. You don’t really see the gumption to do a Proud Mary cover like he did.

Speaking of wild, La Clave. Not as mysterious as the above but a one time effort off Verve with some big names involved. It cooks pretty darn well, a jazzy Latin funky effort that really grooves, This is a very, very clean promo copy to boot. Not saying to drop 100 on it but worth giving an ear to, Ebay seems to pop up with decent prices from time to time

Carlene Carter - Musical Shapes. Some cool shizzle about this. This version has an OBI strip. It’s country pop produced by Nick Lowe. And I swear you could insert some of these songs on country radio today and the only surprising thing would be that they let a woman on country radio. June Carter’s child with a blindside of tipsy me, it’s a strong country album and does not sound like a 42 year old record in most spots. As is Carter Cash law she covered Ring of Fire and it’s got a really interesting modern pace adjustment and style to it.
