Got my super limited William Tyler album today after postal strike purgatory.

But, from the moment I saw the box I was nervous...




Thankfully the disc itself has only a slight edge warp that won't likely affect play (we'll find out tomorrow) but, all in all, a bittersweet arrival.

J Jazz: Free and Modern Jazz From Japan 1954-1988 by Tony Higgins and Mike Peden (BBE, 2024)

I finally pulled the trigger on this fantastic Japanese Jazz book from Tony Higgins and Mike Peden. Its been quite a whirlwind this as I pledged to the initial Kickstarter over a year ago, but it didn't reach the target. They then released pre-orders at a slightly reduced price a few months later but I didn't go for it, then RRP prices were raised to over £100. I finally found a deal on it though and I'm glad I did as its fantastic. Even the box it came in is great!

A pile of rarities here. The Duke Pearson has been on my wantlist for ages but rarely pops up. Something I am totally unfamiliar with is this album from Harold McNair, an incredible musician who plays fantastically. The real rarities come from the 2 Spontaneous Music Ensemble albums, I couldn't believe they both appeared at the same time. "Challenge" is missing the sleeve but I got it at a great price as a result and might luck out on a sleeve one day.
