Fresh Grabs

I love that he matched numbers on the Sun Ras for those who bought both. Huge premium price but it has every little touch to show you how much care went into it. I almost hate to open them with how much they each feel like a work of art.

I've never spent that much on two records, but I'd take a product that has this personal level of attention, which can only come from someone who loves the craft, and the trust that builds with his customers any day over a One Step package. And no big ass box taking up space!
I absolutely agree! Fred shows real passion with every release he puts out. He even checks each one individually for flaws before sending them out. Incredible dedication!

Last time I was in Paris I showed up quickly when I wasn’t able to shop and asked him when he was next open and it wasn’t until after I had to leave back home to New York. He could see I was visibly saddened realizing I wouldn’t be able to browse his store on that trip and asked how long I was in town for, I told him and he told me to stop by on one of their days they’re closed and he’d open it up for me to have a little private browse.

I of course took him up on it and it was a very sweet little hour at Sam’s Records!

Resolve has been strong - here’s my Feb record.

I had lined up Brand New for my March record but got burned by IVC. Anyway had a great fallback option ready to go - it was one of my favourite releases from last year.

The Closest Thing To Silence is on a Jazz Label but I wouldn’t really classify this as jazz - a unique blend of modern classical, electronica and even kraut rock. Recommended!

Got back into town on Monday with this nice stack! Haven't had a chance to listen yet, trying to catch up on the March challenge.

Deerhunter - Halcyon Digest
Bon Iver - s/t
Faces - Ooh La La
Black Sabbath - Paranoid
Bobby Bare Jr - From The End Of Your Leash
You Am I - Hi Fi Way
Fountains If Wayne - JCP Book

Also, while shopping with the kids at UO I had the Tracy Chapman reissue in hand. Unfortunately it wouldn't ring up, and they determined (as I knew and was hoping to still get it) that it wasn't supposed to be out yet. Booo!

Hamilton Leithouser - This Side of The Island
Pete Yorn - Musicforthemorningafter
Starflyer 59 - Talking Voice Vs. Singing Voice
Power Trip - Live In Seattle
Hanadensha -
The Golden Age Of Heavy Blood

The Power Trip and Pete Yorn were heavily discounted, The new Hamilton Leithouser is working hard to usher in Summmer patio vibes with this new record and the Starflyer 59 was a generous PIF from the great @Wes C. Attle

Last but certainly not least was a random find at one of my local record stores. The band, Hanadensha is a Japanese Psych Noise Rock band from the late 80s. The Bassist was in the Japanese Noise Rock Band The Boredoms to give you some idea of their sound. Still, I was unaware until I saw the albums and after finding the album in YouTube (it’s unfortunately not streaming on Spotify) I knew I had to pick it up.

Movietone - Movietone
Silkworm - Developer
Bedhead - Transaction de Novo

Stereolab - “Iron Man”

I spent too much money but I got some good deals and was really happy with my haul. Everything here are original pressings. I didn’t pay list price for any of em and they are all in fantastic condition.
