Captain! There be a box here!

Absolutely LOVE the Sleater-Kinney package! I love foil lettering, and it looks great on the cover here! Also love the matte, tip-on gatefold! Looks and feels great! I love the deep, lipstick red color, looks a lot like the VMP Crumb record. It could've been a cooler color, but I think they nailed the shade of red. Art print looks great! Also got some SK stickers! My OBI strip was improperly folded though on the back lol

Love The Isley Brothers one too! Love the glossy outer jacket with the matte inner gatefold! The QRP MoFi style sleeves are always welcome too. Another solid package!

Can't wait to spin these both! Also got my brother a copy of Al Green in my box, so I hope he enjoys it!

Sign of the Times is such a great album, probably my favorite Prince album as well (y)
It’s definitely one of his best, and Walmart recently had this for $12 and some change with free pickup. And even though I sort of don’t like shopping there, this deal was too good to pass up.

Might sit comfortably behind Purple Rain in my rankings. Not that I’ve heard every Prince album.

So a bunch of goodies showed up today. :)

August VMP Box. Actually pretty fired up about this month.

Been playing this quite a bit in my car and decided I need it on vinyl. Lastly, replacement CD's that a buddy never gave back. :p

Forgive me father for I have sinned. It has been nearly 30 pages since my last Frosh Gruben.

Australian ladies, reprazennnnnnnnt!

Emma Louise: Lilac Everything

On White....Huh? This is album from late last year. She has definitely found her voice with this album and she has called it Joseph. Her entire vocals on this album are pitched down from her usual falsetto range to a more manly range and it works so well. There is a beautiful mix of light and shade on this album and I was getting some down tempo Nick Hakim vibes on one track then she lets off some Flaming Lips/David Byrne hybrid firecracker on the next. Would spin again and again and again.

And then...

Angie McMahon: Salt

On Blue...WTF?. Angie is a powerhouse and this is her damn fine, solid debut. I guess you could compare her vocals to Florence Welch but more smokey, laid back and restrained, She pens a pretty tune steeped in raw emotion that’s punctuated with rock, pop and blues. This could be the start of something big.

Angie McMahon was the discovery pick from Magnolia this month and that is a damn fine record!

I received the Khemmis album a couple of weeks ago, but today was my first opportunity to blast it (home alone!). I also picked up this classic Priest album for $5 as a companion piece:

I was briefly in Barcelona last week and stumbled upon a flea market. Picked up the first Liars album, before they got too weird for my taste:

Last but not least, the goodies I got from last weekend’s Belle & Sebastian cruise festival:

Miles Davis ‎– Kind Of Blue (Columbia 1959 First '6-eyed' Mono Pressing misprint)
A first pressing with the tracklisting misprint on the sleeve (Flamenco Sketches and All Blue are reversed) and the incorrect spelling of 'Adderley' (reads 'Adderly').

The Curtis Counce Group - You Get More Bounce With Curtis Counce! (Contemporary Records, 1957 First UK Mono pressing)

Been after this for a while but it always seems to go for silly money (presumably because of the risque cover). Its a great album with some killer tracks, worth checking out if you haven't already! The money I paid for this goes directly to a charity as well, so everyone's a winner!
