Hip Hop

@Believer101? Wouldn't recommend the latest 2 if you want volatile.
If you're planning on listening to all his albums anyway I honestly would just start at Bastard and work your way to the most recent chronologically, he's had a lot of twists and turns as an artist and listening to how he changed as he matured and branched out and tried different things is very interesting to me.

If you like the Odd Future era and are looking for a way to get into the newer stuff Wolf is probably a good listen as it has a lot of that early Tyler style but the slower moments and many production choices on the album are clearly the foundation for the RnB/Neo Soul type shit that he's been doing more recently

If we're talking what are his best albums, my ranking would be something like :
Flower Boy > Igor > Wolf > Bastard > Cherry Bomb = Goblin

(Note: I am more of a fan of his newer style. My feelings on Wolf & Bastard are mostly informed by how I feel about them when they came out, relistened to Goblin recently and didn't love the experience, and even at the time I thought it was just solid)
I have a feeling scott will agree more so with your opinions then mine lol

But yeah I do believe Bastard/Goblin and Wolf and everything before these projects are his best work and the others aint even worth playing.
But thats just me ;)
I miss the 'Radical' days. I saw them right as that tape dropped, and that will always be the best rap show I've ever witnessed. Kids hanging from the ceiling chanting 'FREE EARL' and shit. It really felt like every single one of them was going to be famous at some point. I really wish Domo Genesis, Left Brain, Hodgy Beats, and some of the other guys went on to become as big as Tyler or Frank, or even Sid with The Internet.

Yeah Radical was what put me on, saw em the first time a couple months after that tape dropped then a few months later again on my 18th birthday, first gig was at a festival so was fun and lively enough, but the second gig was fucking wild, almost scary at times haha. I get what you mean, I was convinced at the time Mike G was gonna be big 😄 though to be fair Domo's done fairly well for himself too
Listen to the Trilogy in order. Since u get to cheat now I would!!!! Wolf>Bastard>Goblin then Cherry Bomb, Flower Boy and Igor. Wolf actually was released third but is the prequel to Bastard

Man I'm still salty that Pilot Talk got removed from Black Friday Record Store Day last year. I was so ready for that!!!!

How would you rank the Earl Sweatshirt albums? Any other ODD Future solo artists worth peeping (aside from Frank, of course)

Hahaha almost my point.

Just saying I live in the horrorcore scene/memphis scene and this is probably why I love tylers earlier work more then you..
Cause I doubt you like this old scene xD its rough as (Just like tylers oldest beats lol)

Most people hate it but I love it lol

I stan Wolf. Love Bastard. Goblin has great songs but it is my least favorite album. Got em all on vinyl. As well as Earl mixtape (produced by Tyler ;)) So I love the earlier shit man. I just respect his growth as a human. As a man, I would be worried if he is my age (we are the same age) still talking about hypothetical rape, stragulation, murder, etc. I also would probably have to listen alone as the themes didn't age well in alot of those songs (homophobia, etc) Never said I wasn't with the old ways I just love the new as much because it shows his wide range of talent. Which is alot more than I can say for alot of popular rappers today that are gimmicky

Its like a horror movie.

You like the genre regardless of age.

Its how I see it. That is why I still listen to horrorcore/memphis 666 shit to this day and wish for more.

Another artist that has grown and evolved from that camp and where they were. Check out Earl the mixtape, then Doris, I Dont Like Shit I Dont Go Outside, then Some Rap Songs. You can really hear him mature over the 4 projects. They are short too so it is an easy cruise

I didnt just say it randomly lol he used popularity as an indicator so I countered.

Popularity = Means nothing.
Except generalizations are useless. Saying that all mumble rap is $hit even if its popular is dismissing a bunch of artists who are pushing the boundaries of hip hop, just like refusing to listen to IGOR just because it doesn't sound like Goblin is depriving yourself from enjoying an artist who is growing and challenging the market and his listeners alike.

Solace > I Don't Like Shit, I Don't Go Outside > SRS >>>> Doris
I didn't listen to his Earl tape
Check out Syd's work. The Internet - Ego Death is dope.

Ahhh forgot Solace and yea I didn't rank them. Just threw them in order. Definitely gotten better each time!

Not mumble rap but man do I love this record

To think, he battled Eminem & Juice at the Scribblefest Freestyle battle.. how divergent all three of their careers went.
