Hip Hop

I’m just listening to this Kanye for the first time. Is it me or does it sound like he doesn’t work very hard on rapping anymore? Sonically it’s really interesting but the raps are hella elementary. I do appreciate the attempt to do something different but I can’t imagine listening to this very often. Maybe I need Jesus.... 🤔

Yeah, eff everything about this. And the Golf Wang customer service is fucking terrible. I'm regretting almost every aspect of this.

Also fuck Benny, DRW and Get On Down for reissuing a 2 month old record with a deluxe version and fuck all the jabronis who are supporting that bullshit.
Seriously I'm pissed. My regular version just arrived yesterday and now there is a Deluxe?!?!?

Fuck rap vinyl. I wish I didnt like this genre/format so much.

First impression.
  1. Stale and way too long.
  2. Great beat/Fire
  3. Weird mixing?/Decent
  4. Great beat/Great hook vibe/brainwashed insanity like wow on them verses lol
  5. Great beat/Old video game vibes/Okay
  6. Great beat/dope hook
  7. Average beat/Nice harmonic hook/over the top
  8. Great sample/Great beat/brainwashed insanity verses again
  9. Decent beat/Decent verses/Tolerable
  10. Average beat/Tolerable/Decent verses/nice switchup
  11. Meh/Reminding himself jesus is lord alot

Kanye is still there.. dude is talented and I guess apart of me didnt truly think he would go THIS hard out on the religious stuff lol but he did..
All in all I dont mind it tho.

How yall digging it?

Pretty sure it’s because this album originally cost $60 shipped and now you can get the same album for $20 cheaper with additional content. There was no mention of a later repress on initial drop. Previously these Griselda albums were never repressed so they were worth the exorbitant shipping price. Now you can’t trust that anymore. This is also the second time in less than 6 months this has happened with a Benny album.

So now, if I want the complete version of one of my favorite albums of the year I have to pay $100 whereas someone who “missed out” now gets the same thing I got and more for less money. I have no issue with people buying this. My issue is with the shadiness of the labels.

Where do you live because I am in the states and got the original vinyl for under $50 shipped. Also, the original Plugs pressing is different than this one, has a different cover that I prefer to this new one, and the music is spread out over both sides which I really appreciate for music with a good amount of low-end (also the record is over 22 mins, which is usually the target for one side of an LP). If you are really pissed about it, you could easily sell the original pressing and at least get your money back and buy the GOD version. I can't recall DRW using the same marketing strategy as Daupe! in terms of never repressing stuff, so maybe your expectations aren't aligned with their model.

Right - I still haven't cleaned and listened to mine yet - just landed last week
If it was 2 or 3 years later then maybe it's less shitty
If the new thing is a Get on Down press that's reason enough not to buy it in my book

WSG and Conway instacops no doubt. I might be holding off on Benny vinyl from now on. For the non-Griselda cats, I cop everything from CRIME, Fahim and Al Divino also. Speaking of....

Yea I get that given enough time everything will be reissued and I'm mostly fine with that, but this is waaaaay too quick of a turnaround and it seems to be happening more and more lately (Medallo I'm looking at you)
