Hip Hop

Mach Hommy said it like this :

"When someone comes that places ultimate value on the creation itself and everything else is secondary. I feel so bad and so low when I put a price on something."

Question: Any price?

Yes.

Question: Does it inherently feel like it’s diminishing or cheapening it?

"Yes. totally. It’s just something I deal with it. It’s two things: it’s the happiness and the repeat value. Happiness. Ask yourself what you would pay for one hour of happiness. Would you pay $300 for one hour of happiness? Now, if I told you that one hour of happiness, that one hour where you will be transported outside of yourself, what if I told you that was infinitely repeatable by you whensoever you chose to do it again with no limitation on it other than you having the time to listen to it. Do you think one hour of happiness whenever you want it is worth $300? It’s that simple. I think it’s worth way more than $300 but I created a number where I felt people could engage with it and it would let me know that at least this person is making an effort. I do not want it in the wrong hands."

I felt that.

EDIT: I've seen people pay over 200 to get their hair done, go to an amusement park, get a bottle at the club, etc.
I don't know. I like Mach, but this seems like some faux deep backflipping justification. You know how many things I can do for free that are infinitely repeatable that bring me happiness? If every hour of happiness in my life cost $300, I would be even more depressed than I am and even more broke. That sounds like something some billionaire housewife would say. "I mean, it's one banana Michael, what could it cost, $10?"

It is on the internet for free. It is in "the wrong hands." Not to mention, flippers probably buy half of them. He's just making a killing on the real fans who can afford it by milking them for everything they've got (and letting flippers get even more). I guess he doesn't want poor people buying his music, that's all the last thing he said comes off as to me.

I feel ya on the last part about poor ppl. I'm poor tho. My life doesnt cost 300 an hour to have fun, but I will put aside money for a couple weeks and when I get 187, I can buy the vinyl I love and use it over and over. I'll get more use out of it then spending 187 on a fancy meal, a night at a club, and a handful of drinks for example.

I've seen men throw 200 in a strip club in 3 hours and leave sadder than when they entered. That's how I justify it for me personally

Don't get me wrong, I'm not criticizing anyone for paying it. We all spend on things we love. I just don't think there's anything an artist charging like that can say that will make them look good for doing it.

Jay Electronica doesn't get a day until it's out! According to that tweet, it should be 3/18? Then we'll see.

FAIR, but Jay Z logged in to twitter for the first time in years to like very tweet. That sealed it for me! I have a feeling it'll be 3/20(Friday) tho! Maybe we will get a song on 3/18.

I still need the last 7 tracks off Act 2. Especially the 2 with Kanye (Real Love, New Illuminati) and the one with Puff (Welcome to Knightsbridge)
