Hip Hop

vinyl aswell! damn!
Bummed I missed this, but copped the black just in case I happen to miss any other variants that pop up.
Great score for those that were able to grab it.

What'd you all think of the Benny album? I feel like I say this on every Griselda drop recently but while I always find I need to let Griselda releases marinate a bit I wasn't too hot on this one. It wasn't bad at all, like a solid 6/10 but I thought Benny was kinda lost in some of the busier beats like Over The Limit, while Conway's definitely my favourite out of the crew I'm surprised he executed a "mainstream" sounding album better than Benny did. The Freddie, Ross and Griselda posse cut tunes are all great, along with Sly Green & Famous. The whole project is kinda reminiscent of the early 10's to me and I think that's both a good and a bad thing

I'm finishing up the Benny album right now and I really enjoyed it. it's not going to be an everlasting all-time great album, but every damn song is super solid and just sounds refreshing in a much better way than Plugs I Met did.

I enjoyed listening to this one more once I fully heard it in a better context then half asleep through my phones speaker... Still some skippable songs for me but this is the best thing he's done since TT3.

I bought it without listening first and then skimmed through it quickly before falling asleep. Quick impression was..meh. I’m going to listen to it on the road today. Maybe I’ve finally ended up with something somebody will trade for Price of Tea in China vinyl 😂

Man, I fucked up that Muggs drop. Had it in my phone as 11am Friday.

It's not your fault. They were definitely announcing it as dropping today at 12pm, so I thought the same thing. Unfortunately, these fools smoke too much and don't know the difference between noon and midnight.

I only knew the time was wrong, because Divino and Muggs started heavily hyping it as midnight on their social media yesterday and I realize what they did. I had an alarm set for today, as well.

The disrespect Plugs I Met gets on this forum always baffles me.
Agreed. I have a soft spot for this album.

It was my formal introduction to Griselda, and even though it deviates a bit from their “formula,” it very quickly jumped to one of my top hip hop releases of the year.

And I don’t know if I’m in the minority, but the Pusha T feature on it was one of my favorite verses of the year. And Blackthought was perfection, as always.

not sure if this is at all directed at me because of what I said. I don't think I disrespected it by saying that I found Burden more refreshing than Plugs, I like Plugs I Met but I might like this new one more.
Not directed at you directly, but your comment .ight have sparked it. I have seen multiple people in this thread talk down on Plugs in the past and i just dont get it. I really don't care either way, tastes being tastes and all, just find it interesting.

I was late to the Griselda train so wasn't listening when a lot of the "classic" projects were released. But I really enjoyed this Benny project. Sure probably not as good as TT3, but I don't think that's really a knock at all as TT3 is really amazing (so sad I wasn't into them at this time to get that vinyl). Not that I'm trying to move past this project, but damn I can't wait for the Benny x Harry Fraud project, especially now.

And yeah I'd probably rank the Conway project above this, but only slightly. I always have trouble ranking Conway and Benny (really not all that into most Westside projects). I think the fact that Conway seemingly has more outputs that are all really high quality that he might be slightly ahead for me there too.

Westside Gunn's formula is grabbing a beat that has 2 strokes of a piano every few seconds and start each verse with "ayo" followed by stretching out his words in his high pitched tone.

"Ayo, you know I got the strap on
Homies tryna fine meeeeee
They don't know tho that I'm 'bout that moneeeeeeey"

I don't mind Sunday School and 5 to 50 but the rest just never really clicked with me. Didn't love the production and I didn't love the features. I'd say the "few" here who don't hold it at the highest regard are in the minority overall.

Push features are always incredible
