Immerse Your Soul In Love - The Radiohead Thread

Have you played it yet? The label look better right off the start, LOL.

Yes I've given my description a few posts ago. It's mostly very good and flat, no swaying of the stylus. 3 or 4 pops in total which I hope to get away by more cleaning, and some crackles on the last songs of each of the Kid A side, no distortion there though. Just on HTDC during the high notes. Overall, I'm happy given the many other possible problems with this pressing like warping, having labels wrong, scratches or worse.

Sorry I missed your earlier posts. Thanks for the summary. The Optimal press definitely sounds like it's miles ahead of the United.

If only I didn't have scratches on two out of three records...

Yes that's a shame. Compared to my blue OKNOTOK pressing this one is worse for sure. I didn't have any pops or crackles at all on that one. Are there actually copies that don't have the distortion on "How to disappear completely"? I think I've seen some say they didn't have it. I wonder if it's due to bad mastering or just a temporary pressing defect?

I'll go out on a limb and say that since the distortion in HTDC is on Optimal & United copies, it's likely a mastering issue. Honestly, it doesn't sound like the type of flaw that could be introduced in the lacquer. So I'd guess all copies likely have it, but as always how bad it comes out probably depends on set-up.

Have you cleaned the records ?

Not to beat a dead horse but...neigggh....where are y'all getting this URP stuff? Are there different run outs y'all are looking out? I mean, labels - good or bad - aren't an indicator.

Am I missing something? Is there evidence I'm missing of URP (besides signatures of shit pressings which Optimal is surely capable of)? Mainly cause if one were to think a EU sourced copy would have a diff pressing - say Optimal - then they might seek that out. But it'd be a shame if they kept fishing from the same scummy pond.

Yes, with a Spin Clean, but will try some spray especially on the tracks that still have pops/ crackles. Unfortunately I don't have a HumminGuru or similiar UltraSonic devices.
You're mentioning pops & clicks and I find that sometimes, especially stuff from Optimal that come in printed inners, have to be played a couple times even after a wash before they're reveal how quiet they actually are. No idea why.

Posted on Sunday by @Phaneronic. The indentations on the vinyl appear to be a tell-tale sign.
YER NOT GONNA STOP ME

Though once I pointed it out to someone on Discogs they actually found this really helpful link as well: LP Pressing Rings And The Mystery Of The Deep Groove (April, 2021 Update)

And I guarantee ™️ that you can go pull out anything pressed by United or Optimal they'll match what's shown here, although a couple plants - especially Rainbo and MPO - can have a couple of different styles. And you can go look at people posting Kid A Mnesia on social media - namely Instagram - European ones will look like the Optimal and North America ones will look like the United.

The labels aren't an indicator, but the way the indentations are pressed into the label are strongly correlated with pressing plants and is a known thing, see here: LP Pressing Rings And The Mystery Of The Deep Groove (April, 2021 Update)

Also:

Plaidroom Records also said they believe all the Radiohead LPs arrived in boxes from United.
