And FWIW I'm just being loud about it because I guess I have to find a reason to use this skill I've developed, I'm actually with Lee that this pressing is a resounding Eh rather than a This Is the End.
So, United?View attachment 116988
United can have a history. Their current reputation is one hundred percent earned. I don’t have one pressing from united that is better than eh. I do have quite a few that make me not listen to the records as much as I would. They may have been great in the past, but they aren’t now.My damaged “Kid A Mnesia “ from Plaid Room arrived today. The damage was some torn shrink on one corner.
Just spun Kid A. It sounds…fine. Nothing that makes me hear things I haven’t heard in the past twenty years but pretty alright.
Some light static on Everything… but it could just need a better cleaning. Pressing is flat with a slightly sharp edge. Not off center. Sonically I’m not sure it’s better than my original Parlophone but it’s definitely more convenient to listen to.
This is “definitely just the word of some guy on the Internet “ but it’s definitely a United pressing. As others have said, the raised lip around the label is the telltale. I’ve toured URP (which is a wonderful thing as it has a great history despite being slagged a lot around these parts) and remember them talking about that as a trademark.
I got the black. If I had to do it again, I'd just buy the CD.Ok, so, I’m curious. Who among us, knowing what they know now, would buy this pressing again, if they turn back the clock? I’m referring to the red US version.
The reason I’m asking is that I preordered two copies from two different indie stores and the first copy is complete trash. I mentioned some of the issues a few pages ago. I’m going to have to return it. I usually try to launder defective records that I get from my local through Amazon but Amazon doesn’t sell this one. Anyway, I just found out that the second copy has arrived. Do I grab that copy as well and hope I can put a solid frankencopy together and return the defective copy? I really wouldn’t feel good about returning two copies of this to two different indie record stores.
I don’t think I can really consider any of the three discs from the first copy acceptable so really, the second copy would have to have three good discs for me to keep it. Is that even possible? Does anyone have three good discs? Which brings me back to, would anyone buy this again?
That actually does seem like a pretty good idea. But then I’d have to buy a CD player! Still might be the way to go.I got the black. If I had to do it again, I'd just buy the CD.
My red Kid A mnesia is less noisy overall than my Capitol 2x10” copies so in that regard I am content. That being said had I known that the anniversary edition was just going to be “okay” at best, I woulda purchased the 2x12” LX copies instead.Ok, so, I’m curious. I have the 2 x 12 XL and a second press I think(?)Of the 2x10 Parlophone Kid A. But I don’t have any vinyl copies of Amnesiac. I love Radiohead enough that I’m perfectly happy to have multiple copies of their albums and I waaaaant to have a good copy of this release but I wonder if I should just pass on it altogether and put that money towards an OG of Amnesiac. My red Kid A mnesia is less noisy overall than my Capitol 2x10” copies so in that regard I am content. I haven’t got a chance to clean mine yet, but has there been any issues with the vinyl for the new songs?
TBH, the kid a and amnesiac stuff doesn’t bother as much because I’ll more than likely just play my other copies but I’m more concerned with the new b side stuffI haven’t had my scary yet but am more scared at the reports of sibilance at the end of the best damn song in their repertoire!

Agree with that…fun bunch of mixes and stuff but def not a 3rd albumI was listening to it in the car last night. It’s a weird old bunch of stuff, I like most of it but it doesn’t feel like the 3rd album as it was sorta sold, there isn’t really a flow to it.

yes. I have this one:Is that the one that's generally available right now?
It’s becoming more scarce. I think you could probably still find new copy for a fairly reasonable price though currently. Is that the one that's generally available right now?
