Incoming! The New Equipment Thread

Anyone know what I do with the grounding cable at the end of the power cord? I’ve never seen that before
this must be a Japanese model - I just ignore it here as there are only 2 prong outlets here and we have to use cheaters for anything 3 prong - but if it is Japanese then its 100v (trust me I live in Tokyo) - you may want to check the back of your unit

From what I’m reading that ground wire is common on a Japanese model table. Two pronged plug with a green ground wire coming out that should be attached to the outlet.
Oooo, yes that’s exactly what I’m seeing, but not sure what to attach that to. You’re saying there should be another piece for it?

Did they provide the step down transformer being a 100v Japanese model?
this is a real thing...im not an expert but you might want to look at step down transformers or at a minimum try and test for speed, not using the strobe and see if the unit gets warm - while the variation in voltage is small, technics is very communicative here about units being not made for export...

I assume the ground wire would get attached to the screw that attaches the outlet face plate?

I am def not an expert on this having never owned a 100v piece of equipment, but I thought you needed a step down transformer to make it work properly with a US 120v power supply. I may be wrong.

Woof, okay I’ll look into a step down transformer to be safe. Anyone have leads on what I would use there?

As for the radio interference, I’m curious if that’s another problem entirely… I turned down the gain on my phono and that def turned it down but not sure this is ideal for a Hana ML, it’s at about 50db of gain rn

at your own research, I remember reading about this company link - and will probably be using them for my luxman integrated which is 100v when I head back (or sell the fcker) - not affiliated, never used, buyer beware, etc...etc...

I’ve been looking into importing an sp10 mkii and this brand have been recommended to me.

Are you using unshielded RCAs?
I thought I wasn’t I had two different pairs of BJCs as interconnects between my components, one pair of Beldens and I forget the others. I just swapped out the Beldens and put in a cheapy pair of RCAs that were included with the Technics and that swapped out the radio interference for a hissing noise (which I prefer) but it’s still way louder than I would prefer. So confused as to what’s going on.
