Incoming! The New Equipment Thread

I think we should eliminate aging. Unless you want to. The death penalty would just be a normal life. Of course I don't want that in capitalism. Billionaires should not get multiple lifetimes to screw over the world. They shouldn't even get this one.

Plain old millionaires on the other hand... hit me up.

I should have been an indigenous American where experience and the wisdom that comes with living a long life is revered. I know stuff. I’ve seen and heard stuff and have a record collection most of you would give a nut for.
I mean in the old days, this had some merit. Now everyone lives way longer than mere evolution would allow.

UPS made me wait till 5:30 but the Audio Research LS28SE is in house & making sweet sounds. Arrived safely and repacked like new. 440 hrs showing on tube meter. Not a mark on it that I can find. A beautiful demo. QC card shows it was OG factory packed 7/11/23. So about 1 1/2 yrs old.

Looks killer!
I recently upgraded to the Rogue RP-9 with the 6H30 tubes.

It's dramatically different than any sound I was accustomed to hearing.
In fact, it's taking me a few weeks to recalibrate my music listening.
I was away in Miami this week and when I returned last night I put some vinyl on and it sounded incredible.

But there were a few days initially where I had trouble adjusting from my 12V tube preamp sound.

Curious to see your thoughts and what are you replacing?

My original post is on previous page. Replacing my well loved 35 yr old Audio Research LS15. New LS28SE sounds awesome but my LS15 also did the job so I bet it would benefit from a new tube set. Only one hour in so its to soon to make any sound comparison but overall 1st impressions are I am really pleased. Carol King Tapestry is spinning.

I must have lost it in the noise previously.
I'm digging the overall tube change now. It took some tweaking with my system, and I feel like I have more of that to go.

But admittedly my preamp change was for chasing the tape fidelity dragon.

Enjoy the new piece and looking forward to hearing more about it.

Sadly, My experience with different tube equipment (or tube sets) is limited to my (now) two AR preamps and an old AR phono preamp that needs servicing as it developed a nasty hum a couple years back that a tube change didn’t fix.

Really having a good night though. Spinning all kinds of music. And, I’m sure my system never sounded better. :-).

Super!

A nice preamp is invaluable.
Guitar strings are one area where sonics really changed for me. Cymbals became a lot more crisp also, if that even makes sense.
