It Could Get A Bit Messi In Here - The Football Thread.

This is still taking up a lot more of my brain power than it should. Making me think about my relationship about football and watching it. At the moment I have one of the UK sports TV providers as part of my cable package, so I get some EPL and the European matches. It's technically a freebie, but if I had to pay for it I really wouldn't bother - the EPL highlights I get on my council telly would do me nicely.

At the end of the day, the ESL is meaningless to me, as there is no way I'm going to get up at 4 in the morning to watch teams I don't support. Still, it's the culmination of all that's wrong with modern football, and I really can't be bothered.

I think what I'm going to miss most about Scottish football are the trips to the lower league grounds more than the big teams. It's much more fun. I've spent my afternoon trying to work out who my nearest lower league Melbourne team could be...

My uncle went against the rest of the family up there and supported Motherwell. I had a few fun trips to their games and to Hampden for international in the early 90s with him!

Fucking hell that's great to see clubs pulling out. I see us (Man United) pretty much being the last ones with Real Madrid. Absolutely hope the government clamps down hard on the ownership structure, and that the PL and UEFA are unforgiving in taking them back.

United, Juve and Madrid. This is Angelli and Perez’s baby and football is an ATM to the Glazers.

I'm thinking smaller than that! I have pals that are Thistle and Morton fans, so I've bounced about the lower leagues a fair bit.

Haha! I went to a few league two games in England with friends as a teenager to the local club. Gotta say I only went back with them, the “football” was a pretty poor spectacle!

I was a Sydney FC season ticket holder for a year (the only season ticket I've owned). The football wasn't great, but we were more interested in the league we were having amongst ourselves to see who could eat the most pies in the season!

Makes my choice of Melbourne team hard: Victory were our biggest rivals then, so I can't go and watch them (Joe, it would be like you watching Liverpool), and Melbourne City are part of the Man City group, so my choices are limited...

Proper mannie's fitba, as they say.

Must admit I like that too.

Used to go watch my proper local team - Culter FC when Aberdeen were away from home. They actually ended up playing Partick Thistle in the Scottish Cup 10 years ago and got a draw /replay. Mcnamara was getting pelters from the Thistle fans that day

Is Melbourne City the same as Melbourne Heart? I was at a derby match there back in 2013. Melbourne Victory won it I think so on that basis I'd say Victory!

I vaguely remember that.

I had the misfortune of being at the Aberdeen v QP game a few years ago...

Heart became City, yes. I think I'll go there if I have to see a game. Got my Aussie Rules team sorted. Go Demons!

I mean Ed was a bungler and not up to the football side but he’s at the end of the day an employee, the Glazers are the cancer. I’m not sad but equally he is far from the primary target.

He's a two faced twat. I'm glad he's out.

The Glazers are also a cancer but we've lacked class ever since David Gill left. I hope they find someone in that category.
