It Could Get A Bit Messi In Here - The Football Thread.

So I went to my first professional match last night. Las Vegas Lights FC v Phoenix Rising FC. It’s their 5th season in the USL Championship league.
The stadium itself is terrible for football. It’s an old minor league baseball stadium so there isn’t full seating. There was a small contingent of Phoenix fans who made the drive. Complete with chants and flags. There was none of that for the home team except for an occasional “Go Lights Go or “Viva Lights”. Some of the in game antics were a bit silly but I don’t know if it’s normal at this level. Overall I enjoyed the match. It’s much faster live than on tv. A ticket where I was sitting was only $20. Beer selections sucked. The pitch, as you will see, is terrible. Not sure if switching to artificial surface is an option. Will definitely have to have an all new facility if MLS comes in.

Oh wow that field is horrible haha

Beer selections sucked.

This is live football. You will have whatever disgusting piss pays the team to be “beer partner”, you will pay double what the pub next door charges and it will be warm and in a plastic cup.

Are you allowed to bring your alcohol to your seat over there? That’s still illegal in England, you have to drink it on the concourse before the match/during half time, you’ll get arrested and ejected if you bring it out onto the stand. Unless it’s a UEFA game, they won’t allow any alcohol to be served at matches under their banner.

Meh I had pupusas at the game I went to this weekend. If I wanted to drink there is a Michelada option. It’s fucking expensive though.

They got some quality kits slated for next year. I’m sure there will be an upgrade in facilities.

No outside food or drinks allowed.
Standard beers. Bud, Bud Light, Ultra=Puke. The only beer I had my eye on was Estrella Jalisco which is a Mexican beer. You can drink anywhere. The cans are tall so it’s probably 2 regular beers in one can and I’m guessing in the $15-$20 range.
At that price, I’ll just take an edible before I go in and drink water if I get thirsty 😁

That's criminal pricing for a lower league game. MLS, I could understand, but jesus.

Single A baseball team near me has a $7 max price on a 16oz beer. Anything more than that would ridiculous IMO.

I’m guessing on the pricing. I didn’t look at the price, only the selection. I think the cans were either 24oz or 32oz. Next time I go, I’ll get the exact price.

that's probably not that far off since for a larger size you'd think would equal more $$$. If a 16oz is like $7, then 32oz would be like $14. Still too pricey since it's not even that good of beer to choose from.

Last time I was at a prem game it was £5 for a 330ml bottle, plastic of course lol. That’s too long ago now so it’s doubtless higher now.

I think American football fans would riot if they tried these rules over here.
Check back with Google in July 😁
I'll see your NV heat and raise you Louisiana humidity in August.

I think the fact that pissed up football fans effectively spent the mid 70s to early 90s rioting on the terraces, and outside the grounds, is why this rule was forced upon the game! Not sure why UEFA go that step further though.
