It Could Get A Bit Messi In Here - The Football Thread.

I think American football fans would riot if they tried these rules over here.

I'll see your NV heat and raise you Louisiana humidity in August.

I lived in Florida years ago and somehow after a few years, my body was able to adjust to the humidity. I’ve been here since 2004 and I still can’t adjust to the heat.

The question is could either of you live in our state of perpetual rain? 😂

My wife’s ex bro in law works for a local alcohol distributor here so he always has beer or liquor in his garage. I walk over to his house twice a week to work out and he’s always gifting me beers. The current status of my fridge since last October or so. I should probably take a couple to slam before the next game. If any of you lived closer, I’d tell you to come and get it.

Actually, this is what I used to do. They pretty much allow people to drink all over the parking lot at Galaxy games. The supports groups have big tailgates and are pretty much drinking the whole time.

I would sometimes do this before seeing shows at a Venue when I lived in Connecticut. Their beers were $10 minimum so my girlfriend and I would mix a drink in the parking garage next door with the $1 nibs or sneak them in since they don't pat you down. It sounds like alcoholism haha but I'm not paying $10 for a drink.

No judgment. I used to wear flares and strap the foil insides of wine boxes to my legs…

So, after the highs of last season's behind-closed-doors double cup winning heroics, and drawing away at Galatasaray early this season, the rest of this season has been a bit of a slog for St Johnstone, facing relegation as we are (currently via a play-off). I've had a regular seat for most of it, having taken a season ticket again.

This Saturday's game looked like being another case of near but not quite, a draw at home to a dreadful Motherwell side that did us no favours in even trying to keep in touch with the teams above us (with 7 games left to play)...until Callum Hendry popped up in injury time with what may currently be my favourite goal I've seen in years. None of the videos do justice to how it looked at the game, or how everyone around me reacted. Total screamer.

Just for context, we're on course to fail to meet our own record for least Scottish Premiership goals scored in a season. Hendry spent half of last season out on loan, and then the first half of this season out on loan again. He's out of contract in the summer, and it looked like his time at the club was all but over before he was recalled in January. He's now our top scorer for the season. Oh, and it was our first league win from a losing position since Jan 2021.

His first goal wasn't bad either: St Johnstone 2-1 Motherwell: Callum Hendry nets added-time winner in comeback win

They open the gates 90 minutes before match time for tailgating, so I could totally do that. I have options.

This is live football. You will have whatever disgusting piss pays the team to be “beer partner”, you will pay double what the pub next door charges and it will be warm and in a plastic cup.

Are you allowed to bring your alcohol to your seat over there? That’s still illegal in England, you have to drink it on the concourse before the match/during half time, you’ll get arrested and ejected if you bring it out onto the stand. Unless it’s a UEFA game, they won’t allow any alcohol to be served at matches under their banner.
I think alcohol is still illegal at stadiums in Brazil (IIRC they created an exception for the 2014 WC), because violence.

Italy have failed again! Fuck me that’s a shock!

Also fair play to Bale, couple of corkers but I hope they get beat in the next round. My loyalties with the Scots in this pool and if it’s not to be them then wouldn’t Ukraine be just the story!
It’s probably going to be Wales unless one of those two show a bit of magic. Which is kind of unfortunate because it would nice to see all 3 make it IMO.

Here’s the thing. I think both are better teams than Wales. The issue is that neither of them has a Bale which allows Wales to be a bit wank and still win a game if needs be.
