Interesting choice by Australia to change keepers for pens
This is an interesting move.
This makes no sense to me. It's already difficult enough to watch MLS now they are burying it even further. How do they expect to grow the game by hiding it behind a paywall that most people have no intention of using.
After watching today's match the only thing I can confirm is the Qatar heat will remain undefeated throughout the WCSo, another upset on the books for today, or will Costa Rica take care of New Zealand easily?!

You’d almost think it’s better to give it away to a free service to get eyes on it and using that fact to push for higher sponsorship prices for shirts etc. You really need a critical mass of viewership to make the paywall work.
Games are and have been shown regularly on local channel via ABC, an ESPN(Disney) owned entity and that is as free as your going to get here in the States.

Fair enough. I know that certain sports here would deliberately avoid sky and go to bbc/itv/channel 4 because they’d get higher viewership and so eyes for their sponsors. It’s really a balancing act because smaller sports with less sponsorship the guaranteed money is best and large sports sell so many subs that the pay tv is always going to pay over the odds for them. It’s that kinda middling level.
Honestly, there are just too many f’ing sports in this country. For some reason, there’s this thinking that league(insert name here that’s not the NFL or NBA) can be just as big. I mean there’s a damn professional CORNHOLE LEAGUE. That’s just never going to happen. MLS and football in general have made great strides here. I guess letting in all those huge caravans of people are starting to pay off…..j/k
