This is a stupid comparison but someone at my work was comparing Kylian Mbappe with Wayne Rooney (for some bizarre reason). I said that Rooney is clearly the better player, more accomplished career for a long, long time. Mbappe could become better if he continues down the path he's going. But as of right now it's Rooney. Am I wrong here?
An aside, I think this is because football fans LOVE to hype younger players like crazy. I mean there's whole
very popular instagram pages devoted to young, up-and-coming football players. Football is so fleeting for players where you may only have a couple of very good years before injury or just decline from being at the top of the game. Players like Messi or Ronaldo or Rooney are the exception to the rule of most players having short careers. It makes my head spin when people are already calling Haaland the best PL striker ever or Mbappe the GOAT. Like.... calm down.
