It Could Get A Bit Messi In Here - The Football Thread.

Agreed. All Star games are dumb.

American owners really need to realise when they buy English football clubs that our sporting culture is almost the polar opposite to where they’re coming from and that they are just asking for huge trouble by thinking your way will work over here. It’s like a Brit trying introduce promotion and relegation into NFL or something.

Chelsea gets to enjoy what Arsenal, United, and Liverpool fans all had to endure; American ownership that doesn't have much of a clue how things actually work over there and why football is so special in England. To them, it's all about having a revenue source and another sports franchise in their portfolio.

We Americans are fiercely protective of our sports socialism. People have wanted to pitch the idea of relegation at the college football (American) level. No way schools here will willing part with millions of dollars every year.

Luckily for them they got one of the rich ones. Highest revenue generating club in world football with an out of date training ground and a once state of the art stadium rusting and leaking. The debt is the same amount as it was in 2005 and £1.5billion out the door on dividends and debt repayment. No one else has had to deal with the Glazer leeches.
