It Could Get A Bit Messi In Here - The Football Thread.

Eh…. Positives to take from that. Probably should have had a first half pen from that TAA push in the box. But then Dier brain farts….

Second Half FC but it wasn’t enough. Remove the Dier blunder and that’s probably a fair result. Spurs are their own undoing once again.

At least with United losing today we can’t go into the WC break worse than 4th. I’m completely fine with that considering the laundry list of injuries.

That’s an enormous statement.
I agree with this. As I said on the last page too. Arsenal have been driving down the street this season getting non-stop green lights. That luck will run out. The World Cup will be such a wild card for everyone’s season. Partey/Xhaka/White/Saka could break an ankle or do their ACL. Same could be said for literally every team. It’s going to kill some teams seasons. No injuries or fatigue would be a blessing. Look what the Euros did for Rashford/Maguire/Sancho last year. I’ll eat my hat if Arsenal continue this form the for the rest of the season. They’d have one of the best PL seasons ever if that were the case. It won’t happen.

It’s not even that. Even allowing for nothing more than normal injuries and everyone coming back fit and healthy from the World Cup. Dropping points in only 2 or 3 games out of 26 is insane. They didn’t do that even in 2004 when for all the unbeaten they drew a lot of games. There are always hiccups, even if you win the league, and they don’t necessarily always just come in the games where you’d accept a draw.

They’ll get a couple of bloody noses in the second half of the season and it will define their season how they, and particularly Arteta, respond to it.

Exactly!!

I'm just going off what's been proven so far not hypothetical scenarios. I'll adjust my expectations accordingly. We had injuries the entire season so far too. Zinchenko has been out for weeks until today. Partey was out Tomiyasu was out. Back starting now out again. Thankfully Nelson came in and scored 2 with Saka out. Tierney has been great when he's filled in. Elnenny is back from injury and has looked good too. All this without Jesus scoring any goals for weeks and weeks.

I mean we've got more points this year so far than ever before including 2004. So who knows maybe we will continue this great luck all year lmao. 2022 the year Arsenal couldn't be unlucky 🤣🤣

Plus as inconsistent as everyone has been. There is room for error. Even City should've dropped 2 points yesterday but got Arsenaly, eh I mean lucky at the death

That might seem sensible but form isn’t an absolute, even the best most dominant teams have wobbles. What sets them apart is how they react. You may well be the first team in my lifetime that goes through a season without a wobble but I’m betting it’s not true. Looking at fixtures and ticking them off as WWWLXWWW is as reliable as studying form on the horses too, it only goes so far. Football being football you could beat city that you have an L next to and lose to Bournmouth and Fulham. Nothing worth winning comes easy and the league, if you do, will be the same.

I know but u asked what i expect. Lol i want to expect greatness then be let down Joe 🤣 i like pain. Its a learned behavior. As an Arsenal fan this is what we do. Overreact both for the good and bad. Remmeber last year i was saying sack Arteta after 4 weels lmao also, luckily we don't play city for a bit lol like 16 games away

Hahaha! Just remember who was telling you how much they liked what Arteta was doing and that they thought he’d do a good job 😉

Yeah I saw your next little run and it looks good on paper. Pity we doing play matches on paper hey, we might have got 3 points today that way 😂

You all should be excited because this is all shaping up to be a dramatic downward spiral for me by the end of the season and you guys will get to laugh and say told you so... just enjoy these moments with me 🤣😭
