9-0 Ralph has gone. It will be interesting to see who they get next. Southampton have some really talented youngsters in there but I get the distinct feeling that there is a lack of good senior pros to steady the ship.

If they go down they’ll get picked apart or players will do that thing where they’re loaned back to another PL team. It could be a while before they come back up again if that’s the case

Maybe but they have a lot that are young enough that a development year in the championship could see them thrive. I’m thinking the likes of the keeper Bazunu, who I rate very highly, and Bella Kolchamp. They’d lose the likes of Adams and Ward Prowse for sure.

It really depends. I thought about that too, but also, for example, if Bella Kolchamp is good enough to potentially make the Germany squad in 2 weeks, he might think that he doesn't want to go down to the Championship.

We needed a change I think. None of our recent signings have blazed a trail and it’s been woeful results wise of late.

So with Ramsdale, Turner, Partey, Saka, and Xhaka of course going as well....I don't see anyone else going unless Ben White gets the call last minute. Only 6 regular starters and 2 subs....I really thought it'd be much worse. Now to stay healthy is the key

I could see Saliba going, he’s probably not a starter yet if he does.

Is he? That surprises me. For all his talent he seems really raw and in need of lots of games more than anything. Is that speaking more to a huge dearth of centre back quality in Germany?

I think Bazunu would do a year or two in the championship and thrive and come back a better player.From what I’ve seen of him internationally the sky is the limit with that lads potential. Lavia has looked like the pick of the young fella too. They did also buy pretty much all of city’s youth team so a good chunk of them would presumably take the experience a level down.

That’s if they go down though, it will be tight between 5 or 6 teams for the 3 places.

Yes. There’s Hummels, Rüdiger, Süle, Schlotterbeck and then the drop off is pretty significant in quality. Basically just average Bundesliga CBs. He’s got a chance.

Outside of France, who seemingly have about 3000 world class centre halves, it really is a position where there is a shortage of top class players across the board.
