Two world cups in a row out at the groups if it does happen. It’s unprecedented because I’m sure you remember as well as I do that even when they were crap in the past they’d still always make the quarters, even if just by sheer force of will.

From Wiki it seems like they are doing 16 groups with 3 teams. Top 2 qualify for KO stage.

Yup they used to be the team no one really cares but are always in the final four. As someone once said "Football is a simple game; 22 men chase a ball for 90 minutes and at the end, the Germans win".

That’s weird. I suppose the fact there isn’t an extra game has to be commended but 3 team groups means you have to be really shit to go out…

At least they're making the world cup twice in a row. Imagine missing two consecutive World Cups!

Yeah Italian championship is far behind German nowadays and have been for a decade or more. I don't even know why they insist with the European top 5, there are three championships in front of all the others and then you have French, Italian, Portuguese and Dutch.

They still have big teams and there is probably more depth in Serie A than those other 4 but they haven’t had a headline club at the top table for 5 years since Juve began to fall off their pedestal.

FIFA corruption is stronger than Cálcio corruption. Italians used to know how to win games and competitions, now FIFA decides who wins and who doesn't.

It's kind of weird. When it was in France in 2016 (what a brilliant competition it was btw), fans could apply to buy tickets for all the group matchs and then pre-buy tickets for quarters, semis and final. Then, you'd have your tickets only if the team you support goes through the different stages. My brother was at the Stade de France to see the final.
