Go on, geezer.
Here we go!
Germany is not mathematically out but still... End of an era for the Mannschaft.
From Wiki it seems like they are doing 16 groups with 3 teams. Top 2 qualify for KO stage.Problem is because 48 doesn’t divide by 8 there will be loads of groups where 3 teams go through which will make shocks way less important and the group stages will be really boring.
Football in general absolutely doesn’t need the extra round in there either. One more match on the treadmill.
Two world cups in a row out at the groups if it does happen. It’s unprecedented because I’m sure you remember as well as I do that even when they were crap in the past they’d still always make the quarters, even if just by sheer force of will.

That’s weird. I suppose the fact there isn’t an extra game has to be commended but 3 team groups means you have to be really shit to go out…
At least they're making the world cup twice in a row. Imagine missing two consecutive World Cups! Two world cups in a row out at the groups if it does happen. Yup they used to be the team no one really cares but are always in the final four. As someone once said "Football is a simple game; 22 men chase a ball for 90 minutes and at the end, the Germans win".

I think that might have been Des Lynam on the BBC. Perhaps after one of the 90 WC or 96 Euros semis?

They’re Germany. Their economic power, league strength and football pedigree means they should always qualify. Italy is a weird one but I suppose they’ll console themselves with the euro title in between.
Yeah Italian championship is far behind German nowadays and have been for a decade or more. I don't even know why they insist with the European top 5, there are three championships in front of all the others and then you have French, Italian, Portuguese and Dutch.
And that’s why every team should have a proper striker. Unless you’ve got Messi fuck this false 9 bullshit.
They still have big teams and there is probably more depth in Serie A than those other 4 but they haven’t had a headline club at the top table for 5 years since Juve began to fall off their pedestal.
How far in advance do tickets go on sale for the next WC?
It’s usually pretty close. Maybe a year. Could even be 6 months. I don’t know if perhaps they wait until all the teams are qualified first? A proportion have to go to the nations to split between their fans.
