By Rashford running over the ball, he prevents a City defender and Ederson from playing the ball. He doesn’t touch the ball but he has “possession” of the ball by taking 5-6 strides with it in his possession. That’s interfering the movement of City’s players. He’s offside when he’s doing that so he should be called as offisde.
The city player is too far away, can’t get to it and Ederson can’t either. It he could he also could have smothered Fernandes because the ball had traveled further by then. Fernandes had the space to take on curler rather than having to be rushed.
I’m going to be honest. I don’t like this law, but that’s the way refs are told to interpret it. The ref they have on the tele said much the same, doesn’t like the law but as it stands has to be a goal.
