It Could Get A Bit Messi In Here - The Football Thread.

I’m sure it stings.
So is this move for the remainder of his current contract?

His current contract with spurs is only till next summer lol. Football doesn’t work like that, you don’t buy out the contract you buy the registration from the other club and negotiate your own contract with the player. The rumour is an initial 4 years plus an option to extend by a further one.

You sell your best player and all of a sudden they were just a dickhead the whole time! I’ve been there lol!
Nah he’s not a dickhead. I mean, he’s 30, it’s time. He has to win now if he wants his legacy to be more than it is currently. Spurs don’t look like a team that can compete for trophies this season. We could fluke our way through a cup competition but that’s about it. It’ll take a couple of seasons for Ange to get up and running. Kane doesn’t have that much time. His reasons for leaving are objectively rational but some trophies in Germany mean less than winning something with his home club.

True but with him in the team the champions league is a very real possibility. Madrid have no strikers, PSG are in turmoil, Barca still in turmoil, city have lost players and may have a minor hangover into this year.

I was thinking along the lines of him leaving after next summer, but I would think if a club is willing to pay a fee, a new contract would be involved.

After Haaland the viable strikers list is really sparse. I had a Nkuku too but his injury is a problem. Currently have Haaland and Fergusson and no idea who to swap for Nkuku for 3…
That Pedro kid from Brighton looks interesting. He took the pen last matches with March and Mitoma on the pitch

GOOD BUSINESS FROM FSG AS ALWAYS 🤣

Aubameyang was both for a bit lmao the best and a dickhead

I’ve never watched Bundesliga before, but I’m guessing the quality isn’t as good as PL? Maybe Kane is tired of competing at that level a la Messi.
Bundesliga is a fine competition. Not on the level of Premier League, La Liga, or Serie A, it’s the 4th best league by UEFA Coefficient. Not a lot of people watch it outside of Germany though and it’s fairly top heavy in terms of league dominance. It’s not super competitive overall.

Very true. But I think it’s City’s to lose again.

It doesn’t have the same money so outside Bayern the quality isn’t quite there across the board. But the style, physicality and intensity is the closest to the PL in Europe, just a notch or two down outside Bayern. It’s what makes the non Bayern clubs a very good training ground for future Premier League players.

I remember Joe saying that the league is very popular with the Hipsters, and I feel like there are a lot in the US. 😁

I think city will win a trophy, maybe two. The hangover from a treble is real though and it’s hard to have that intensity across all tournaments again the following year. The champions league is the one I think they might miss out on.

Oh god there’s a certain type of knob who doesn’t follow the PL or the local league here and is a Dortmund or Leverkusen fan and shits on about it like it’s the holy grail of all football ad nausseum. It isn’t, it’s a decent league that can’t be considered top tier because of Bayern’s almost comical domminance.

More goals per game can be fun to a new fan, but if I were against Bayern I simply wouldn't play a high line which seems impossible for most of the Bundesliga. Sure is fun though.

Beerenstein can't seem to find the back of the net....Spain took advantage finally

She's gonna need a beer in a stein after this one
