It Could Get A Bit Messi In Here - The Football Thread.

For us definitely. I see positive things at spurs if maybe someone beat it into Ange that game management when ahead isn’t some massive desecration of the ancient principles of attacking football…
I think that will be the death of him here unfortunately.

It reminds me of how when Conte came in, he basically got the best of our squad with the players he had. 4th place CL finish + Son golden boot. Second season, he instilled his rigid system and refused to play to the strengths of the players. Time and time again it was just the same turgid football with Kane bailing us out sometimes. He scored 30 in a team that finished 8th. That’s crazy. If Conte was a little bit more adaptable like he was when he first came in it wouldn’t be so bad.

Ange playing a high line with Dragusin, an 18 year old Gray for the past 3 weeks is suicide. We’ve scored so many goals (which is great) but the goals conceded is extremely avoidable.

As for Amorim, I don’t think it’s his fault, some of these players need to be moved on.

I agree. I’m even feeling a bit more sympathy towards ten Hag even if he was the wrong fit.

Our issue will he moving on multi millionaires on huge salaries who aren’t good enough. And then replacing them with better players in a really tight FFP situation.

Watching Iraq v Saudi Arabia because there’s no other meaningful games on. I don’t have a problem you have a problem

Udogie off with a hamstring injury.

Maybe they should treat Spurs injuries like they do everyone else: this shit is absolutely cursed and the press are like “is Ange good enough?”

The thing that annoys me most about the Ange Out crowd is that game was a solid grind with loads of missed changes: Radu header, Son penalty, Son v Doherty, Maddison miss, Timo/Dom counter, Dom/Kulusevski break….so many chances wasted. To me it’s evident the system works that we are creating chances, and on the players that they aren’t being converted. You’d think seeing Poch, Mou, Nuno and Conte sacked because of the players, the fans would know better by now. It’s just silly to be calling for the manager 18 months into a rebuild

I was like this early into Arteta's run. I wanna say sometime in 2021, about the same time (about 18 months). Mind u he had won us the FA covid cup, and I was on the Arteta out train then things turned around. So maybe he will stay and a breakthrough is soon to come for you all lol

Everyone is just sloppy with passes, tracking back, missing chances. It’s not entirely on him but I think he could be more pragmatic in some situations and not run the same few players into the ground. The two Wolves goals today were also hard to prevent. Well taken set piece and a great finish.

I think there were kernels in Arteta that I liked from the start. He was firey he took on the right targets and you were moving in the right direction playing wise. I wasn’t surprised when it turned around quickly for him.

What worries me about Ange isn’t playing style or even coaching, it’s an inability to compromise. All the very best teams don’t play the same way all the time. When things are flowing and going great they play like Ange but they also know when to dig in and when to sit in and when a game is won how to kill it. His teams have none of that. That was fine in Scotland, Celtic beat everyone that isn’t Rangers pretty comfortably and you can keep going. Not even city could do that in England, never mind Spurs.

It makes no sense to even consider sacking until the summer unless we somehow land in 20th
