J-Jazz (Japanese Jazz)

Hmm. Sorry if that’s the situation and I didn’t see it. I assumed with Yusuke involved it would include at least some vinyl.

I assume the same as you but couldn't find any information. So I ended thinking maybe these were only digital releases. When I click on the several links it leafs to Spotify, Tidal and other streaming platform.

Ah. Yes, I did see that but _also_ assumed this was just an announcement with vinyl releases forthcoming, but that may be a bad assumption

Two more for my expensive Project Re:Vinyl collection :

I am glad that I am kind of a jazz idiot and don’t know enough about most reissues to get excited by them. Id be so broke if I had any clue what those two albums are
its mostly free jazz...the Miyazawa record is a "classic" - these are never seen in original form, but easy pass for me... have to say other than TBMs (because so many worthwhile sessions haven't seen the light in a long time and need to be reissued) there really are very few essential (non-free/noise nonsense) J Jazz sessions left where the juice is worth the squeeze.

- although it would be great if a Japanese company would redo the BBE stuff with better quality packaging and non-warped vinyl as I refuse to do 2x45s anymore and I have had terrible experience with the BBE pressing quality - although the book is defo essential.

also have to say I think packaging quality is down on project re:vinyl in the last year or so as well...thinner cardboard, etc...and prices are WAY up over 15% increase since last round

I only have a couple BBEs and they've been fine quality wise. Interesting to hear that about their QC.

picked up the two latest Project Re:Vinyl reissues today, Maki and Formation (too lazy for links, you guys all know)....

YES! these are both instant buys, finally Ogawa-san has removed himself from the nonsense free/noise train and put out two stone classic sides.

these are cut HOT af, but sounding great, packaging solid - the only two things that I can fault with these is 1) they should have maize/blue replica obis from the Victor Jazz series that are iconic and just so much cooler than the pink ones and 2) charging more for gatefolds is some nickel and dime shit that is just wrong on general principles, but, Japan.

anywho, highly fucking recommended and these will be getting played and replayed a lot....

I have pre-ordered both at CdJapan and I saw that they are ready for shipment. Can't wait to receive them. I also added Electrum, which was reissued for Record Day and last three TBM BG reissued. Heavy and expensive shipment...

I was not into J-jazz 10 years ago. I found all the past catalog of Project Re-Vinyl in different places but could not find Electrum anywhere, at least not at a price I consider acceptable. I didn't hesitate when I saw it was reissued, even if it is on colored vinyl. Now my collection will be complete.
