January 2023 Spinning Challenge: Welcome To 2023

Day 28: The Piano Has Been Drinking
Play me a great album to drink to/be drunk listening to.

I'm going for sad drunk music, which is a favorite genre and this is one of my top 50 albums. Spinning it in the other room but too lazy to go back in to take a photo, so discogs art it is.

Day 25: Wednesdays
You’ve got over the hump in the week. The only way is down to the weekend. Play something suitably lighthearted and care free.

The New Pornographers - Electric Version

Day 26: Hooks
Play an album with a hook that you just can’t deny.

Parannoul - After the Magic

This mysterious Korean bedroom shoegaze project just dropped its latest album last week, and the vinyl won't come until later this year. I can definitely say that even though I can't understand anything, it's got all sorts of hooks.

Day 30: Local Record Stores
Please support your local record stores over evil corps and soulless online warehouses. Play something you bought in a record store you love

Surprise Chef "Education & Recreation"
Shout out all my local record stores, Dr. Disc, Into the Abyss, Revolution Records and Flashbacks all wonderful independent shops that have survived a lot, RIP Cheapies Records and Tapes, I always just like going into a record store and just looking around, sometimes I walk out with something, or a lot of somethings, and other times empty handed but it's always cool to just be in that environment! This record when i asked about it the response was, damn, I was actually going to keep that for myself but I guess I can let you have it! When I went to pick it up we chatted about this band and a few other bands like them, really cool to chop it up about music any time you can!

Michael Kiwanuka "Kiwanuka" (2019 Polydor)
Picked this one up at my local in the Glebe neighborhood of Ottawa, Compact Music, the week it was released.
