Anyone have any ideas what on earth is happening here? Why are the sold items so so so high compared to those which are available?

Just want to thank the folks on this thread for the previous discussion of these Sam Records, Donald Byrd releases. Surprised to find these two used (NM condition) at my local today and knew to immediately to get them.View attachment 79545
You've done fantastically well to find them buddy, I think they have been OOS for a while now. Really great albums, I might spin them tonight. I've just been listening to Byrd On Beacon Hill, it would have been his birthday today so great timing with your purchases!

I really hope Byrd on Beacon Hill gets the Tone Poet treatment. I've been dying to grab that one!

Awesome! I see you are in North Carolina, what store is that?
Carolina Soul in Durham. Store opened this week for the first time since March, by appointment only via their website. One person per hour, so you get the whole store to yourself. Owner will put any LP you want to test on the stereo. Plenty of sanitizer and gloves (optional). Store is well-stocked and separate inventory from what’s on their discogs site. Highly recommend.

That packaging is ridiculous! But I can't tell from the photo whether the album itself is damaged. Is it?

Yes unfortunately, you can see the part where it's bubbling, that part soaked the most water. After taking the plastic off its more noticeable, the rear gatefold is all wrinkled from the moisture like a pair of jeans that were air dried. I emailed them about it, hopefully I can get a replacement since this wasn't exactly cheap.

If all the great stuff I've seen from them on eBay is any indication, they seem like a great local.

Oh, okay, now that you mention it I can see that in the photo. What a bummer. I hope you can get a replacement. Was this an international order?

Yea I ordered it from her site so it shipped from the UK. I'm actually shocked the package even made it to my house because the shipping labels are badly faded from the moisture lol.

Nice! I will have to make an appointment. I’m in Raleigh for the next month.

Picked up that Barney Wilen RSD album from Twist and Shout today. Damn is it good and sounds fantastic too.

My copy just arrived today, it sounds great. I got a few elemental records a couple of years ago and wasn't that impressed, but this sounds great. I see they have a lot in stock at Jazz messengers, a few Dexter Gordon & a few more Barney Wilen, any suggestions on good titles to pick up from Elemental?
