Jazz

The one with the blue jacket, for this months membership, is a live version. I signed up for that record basically. I don't think there are going to be many copies available elsewhere, but maybe some from Sam records direct.
Looks like a blinder. The Jef Gilson is one of my favourites that Sam Records have released, and I typically love live jazz recordings so I bet this is a killer! I just sold 2 records earlier and I already feel the money burning a hole in my wallet......maybe I will have to sign up!

Do it, it sounds great. ( I really need to sort out my collection & start selling some)

Earlier on this year, I went through my entire collection to thin it out and listed a lot for sale. Really daunting task but it felt great once done. I sold a massive chunk in the first month or so (so much that a worker at my local post office asked if I wanted to open a business account!) and even now I sell at least 1 every fortnight.

There was stuff in the collection which I haven't played for years and has jumped up quite a bit in value, so its worth checking!

definitely, it is a job I plan to start over the holiday period. Hopefully I can make some progress

I have a question for you Wax Buyers Club members (@Skalap, this might be one you could answer). I was just looking at the Jef Gilson Big Band ‎– Jef Gilson A Gaveau and noticed that the Wax Buyers club version has a different track ordering. Is this correct? I assumed it was the same pressing but a different jacket etc? Is it a live version or something?

What @Andy said. Despite its name Jef Gilson à Gaveau was not recorded at Gaveau. It was recorded in a studio a month later and these are the recordings released by Sam Records earlier this year. This WBC exclusive is the live session recorded at Gaveau. It was found in INA archives (French Audiovisual National Institute) and, with the agreement of Jef Gilson, it's finally available. According to @Edd there will be a very limited number of copies on Sam Records but I suggest you secure a copy asap.

All right I'm here. :)
@Andy is right and as always, @Skalap is the guy. Thanks a lot.

@Selaws : Jef Gilson Live à Gaveau is the one and only (and unreleased) live recording that exist. Jef Gilson à Gaveau (Red cover) is actually at studio Davout. Sam Records explains it much better than me here.

The WBC release will be very limited. Sam Records gave us a wonderful Christmas gift with this. Sam Records webshop will have a few on sale by the end of January. I still have enough stock to please every one, there is no hurry. If you are worried, send me a mail. :)

A friend shared his top 10 of 2020 list and this album blew me away, I haven't seen it shared anywhere else on N&G

This album is a cinematic journey, a step into enhanced reality. I wanted to create music which is captivating and which connects our deepest inner self to the outside world.
Whatever the images and the sounds that surround us, I made sure that they always blend well with the sound adventure offered in these long compositions, so that we feel like in a movie, between reality and fiction.
I explore various moods, roam through different universes, continuously propose new ideas, which in turn become new challenges, places from where to take flight, where there are dead ends or blurred tracks.
Secret hatches open into unknown worlds, strength is regained, you become the star of the film of your own life.
This work explores some of the paths which became open to me while composing the soundtrak for the film "16 Sunrises", recounting the odyssey of astronaut Thomas Pesquet.
To interpret this inspiring writing commission I put the quartet together, with Yessaï Karapetian (keyboards) Julien Herné (bass) and Martin Wangermée (drums).
A lot of material was born from this experience, then the group matured, I wanted to follow up on this exploration of sound.
In addition to outer space and the universe in its infinite magnitude, this album also relates to more personal emotions, those from my life as a musician and as a man: the emotional journeys of dreams and imagination, the gaping chasms, the connection to feminine power, its grace and its mysteries.

US Shipping on the vinyl was much cheaper using this label link, If I was in France I'd probably buy the signed copy on his personal BC

Internation Anthem Bandcamp says some records are shipping from the UK so shipping should be cheaper but I can't see where someone can select UK or US.

You can't select: It'll auto-select shipping from UK or US based on your shipping destination if there's enough stock in both warehouses - but if one is empty, you'll be charged with the shipping rate from the other warehouse.

I checked with other records, I didn't had to select any country and shipping was indeed cheaper. Stangely it didn't work with Force Majeure (with standard black that seems to be availaible).

Just finished my copy of Subversion Through Jazz, from Matt Parker of @britprogjazz. It only took me a few days, I was absolutely hooked and picked it up any chance I had. I really didn't expect there to be so many interesting areas highlighted, especially the MI5 aspects. Without providing spoilers, these were areas which I would refuse to believe if it wasn’t for the in-depth research, analysis and evidence that was provided and it certainly left me wanting to research the areas even more.

Top stuff and I really do recommend it, especially if you are from the UK. Really interesting.
