Jazz

Sad news that more and more stories of the trombonist Slide Hampton passing away seems to confirm it. At 89 years of age, he has led a full life with a fantastic legacy.

here's an interesting one... PM Records seems to have found a bunch of new old stock of some of their albums. no clue on their shipping/packaging quality but I took a gamble and ordered a few records.

I got Elvin Jones - On The Mountain, Nina Simone - A Very Rare Evening (japanese pressing) and Don Thompson - Country Place. You can order on their site or email the owner through there to get some more details.

Set your timers for 7:30 PM (2.5 hours from now).

Looks like Jazz In Britain are premiering yet another release, this time from the legendary Don Rendell. I imagine this will be one that sells in the same manner as their Blue Beginnings, dependant on the sound quality. I have a feeling that it MIGHT include Ronnie Ross on baritone...

They haven't announced anything on the Subscription page apart from the video link. Typically they tend to release pre-orders on a Friday and it would make sense for them to line it up with Black Friday? So maybe at the end of the week.

A while back, someone posted about Jazz Center Stage Store having a sale on some AS titles, and I meant to ask but forgot - is that store legit/reliable? Thanks!

EDIT: it was @MikeH!

I have seen them live quite a few times now and yes, I completely recommend seeing them. They are fantastically suited for live performances and certainly put on a hell of a show. Almost every time I have seen them they have brought on a special guest as well which is always a nice surprise.
Good to hear. Looking forward to seeing them here in Minnesota in April!

it's legit --I believe Universal owns it? Or somebody big at least...

But beware of the Nina Simone releases--some people reported getting non-AS releases. Also look at Target/UDiscover this week for any AS titles. Love Supreme is at Target for Buy 2 Get 1 free (can buy 3 and cancel 2 and get sale price). Udiscover is also running a 40% off sale and might have some of the AS titles.

anybody have $250,000 lyin around?

Might start using this line:

"Full-size high-resolution photos showing the entire record and cover in detail will be messaged directly to interested and qualified buyers after they agree to a short non-disclosure paragraph which we would send them through the messaging system here"
