Jazz

Haven’t been keeping up with the forums as I’ve been away, so maybe this has been posted already. But, a nice NYT Popcast this week about Joao Gilberto and Bossa Nova with Ben Ratliff. Also, a nice obituary on Gilberto from Ratiliff:

Highly recommended

Joe Armon-Jones - Turn To Clear View

Damn the blue variant sold out already!

You'd have thought so, but couldn't see any pre-orders at the usual spots. Would be amazed if there aren't more copies floating about tho.

Norman Records seem to have it listed, usually thats a good indication that it will get a general release. I was thinking about the amount of pre-orders (and online orders in general) I have made this year which I could have picked up from my local had I waited. Not only does it help them stay open, but I would have saved a small fortune in shipping costs.

Yeah, I’ve been adjusting how I approach the hobby, period. Less spur of the moment ordering, only preordering from select labels or when there is an incentive. Less amazon period. More from my shop.

Sooo, apparently those weren't limited to 50 each.
Rough Trade has both "exclsuives" listed now.
Clear seems to be the indies exclusive - limited to 1000.
Blue is the RT exclsuive - limited to 500.
All versions available here: https://www.roughtrade.com/gb/joe-armon-jones/joe-armon-jones-turn-to-clear-view
Very nice gesture from Brownswood:
We just wanted to alert you to the fact that the product information for Joe Armon Jones “Turn to Clear View" was set up in a way that was slightly confusing, as it made it look as though there were only 50 copies of each colour-way manufactured.
The blue vinyl limited edition is 500 copies with 400 copies being sold via Rough Trade stores in the UK and New York - we had 50 on Bandcamp which are all sold out now.
We pride ourselves on giving vinyl collectors accurate information about what they are buying.
We are very sorry if you felt misled by the information given on Bandcamp and if you would like a refund on your purchase, please just get in touch.

Plus a discount code for a next purchase as a gesture of goodwill and to give our thanks for your support.

I added 6 or 7 to my cart and then closed the window. I spent, once again, way too much this month.
Same here.
But I did that recently with what could be one of my favorite electronic records this year because shipping costs were the same as the record itself and it had only been available at their Bandcamp. When I finally talked myself into buying it was sold out and now I'm feeling emptiness. :oops:o_O:giggle:

I've ordered the blue from rough trade and emailed brownswood about cancelling the black and getting a refund

Not had a reply ;/

Anyone here have the Speakers Corner edition of Herbie Hancock - Flood? I have already received three warped copies from Amazon. Wondering if I'm just unlucky or if it's a more widespread issue.

The sound quality is amazing though, so at least that isn't the problem.

Yeah I've had it for a while, no problem with mine, I'm sure a few more on here have it as well , keep trying , it's a beauty !

I picked mine up on an Amazon Germany accideal for €5,39 and I’m not at home to check but I can’t remember anything bad about it. Hope you get a good one eventually. I’ve lots of Speakers Corner records and can’t remember any of them being bad.
