Jazz

Thanks guys for the recommendations - a lot to go through :)

I started with Ryo - "Scdenery". This is awesome.

Any recommendations on a pressing?
The recent one that came out last fall. It was in the VMP store for a while back when they still did the curated store. Tbh, I hadn't heard of Ryo Fukui before that, but it's great. I'm sure you can grab it from Amazon or Bull Moose or whatever online retailer you like if your local doesn't have it.

Yep, it was recently released. I think there are two pressings right now. I've got this one:

Ryo Fukui - Scenery

Sounds great! I have no problem with the pressing. I think the other one that's been floating around is a little bit more pricier, but supposedly it's better.

I will also recommend to you his "A Letter From Slowboat" album. It's also awesome.

The European press is way cheaper than the Japanese one and is mastered at half speed, if I was you I would go with the EU press. The Japanese reissue is certainly amazing too, I have 25 records from the Project Re-Vinyl serie (but not the two Rio Fukui albums We Release Jazz released) and they all sound great buuut they are more expensive.

My roommate has the Japanese pressing, while I have the EU pressing. Imo the EU pressing sounds better, although there is nothing wrong with the the Japanese version from the Project Re-Vinyl. The EU version is also taken from the master tapes, while I'm not quite sure what the source is for the Japanese version.

All of the we release jazz half speed versions are fantastic sounding.

I bought Scenery because of the reddit hype, but I like Mellow Dream even more.

It's not piano jazz but that Stuff Combe is up there with the best sounding records I have. They're doing really good stuff this label, and it reminds me I need to grab Placebo soon.

Anyone here have the Speakers Corner edition of Herbie Hancock - Flood? I have already received three warped copies from Amazon. Wondering if I'm just unlucky or if it's a more widespread issue.

The sound quality is amazing though, so at least that isn't the problem.

Fourth time's the charm I guess, sort of at least. Both discs seem to be without defects, but the jacket is torn along the top in two places. Luckily I hadn't sent my previous copy back, so I switch jackets and now I have a fully functioning copy!

Sound on this is amazing, especially for a live recording 🤯 It's all crystal clear.
