How does these represses sounds? There are a few I've seen in record fairs buy never wanted to take the risk of having a bad one.

A couple of killer new jazz albums arrived in the past few days and I just wanted to share them here.

First up is the latest from the British musician Andy Hay, the self-released "Polaris". As always, Hay took a very DIY approach to this album with hand-painted artwork, a hand-written thank you note and typed booklet (hand-stitched). Pretty incredible really. He's also announced another album release up for pre-order this coming Thursday which is exciting.

Next up is Muriel Grossmann's latest offering, "A Light In The Mind". This arrived directly from RRGems in Estonia and although I haven't had chance to listen to the vinyl yet, I can only imagine its going to be a good one. This is going to be a fun weekend listen!

Anyone who hasn't checked out the two just released Yuji Ohno Trio shows from the Blue Note Cafe in Tokyo yet, they arrived from Japan yesterday and I've just finished spinning this for the third time. Haven't even gotten to the other session yet, but this is the release of the year for me across all genres. The recording is incredible and as I mentioned in the now spinning thread, it's fantastic whiskey drinking music (even as someone who doesn't really drink anymore).

Streaming now - fantastic. J-Jazz piano trio is unbeatable.

I’ve wanted this one for a long time, but prices were through the roof. For unknown reasons, one seller put up multiple copies in November for normal prices. I grabbed one for $35.11. The same seller now has them for $99.99 (back to the high prices). I was worried my order was going to be canceled bc they didn’t ship mine for a full week and raised the prices before sending it out, so I figured the lower prices were a mistake.

But it arrived today and sounds great. Musically, side 1 is particularly good. I wonder if they found an old stash and ignored Discogs prices for some reason.

Great score!

Stoked on Eddie Hazel. Hopefully we get a AAA Maggot Brain soon too

A perennial favorite in my house that gets spun every year. I love that Dreamers group.

It's soooo good
Went to the show last night. I loved it! They had them set up on the floor with the audience seated around them. I arrived kind fo late, but managed to get a front row seat behind Anna. This band is amazing. It's all about the collective rather than individual theatrics. Ideas bouncing off each other, supporting each other. Josh really uses electronics subtly and has a really distinct voice. The drummer man he was holding down the groove in so many different ways, just didn't stick to hi hat and ride cymbal. At one point he pilled out some castanets. He had all sorts of tricks up his sleeve. Definitely a good show. Here is some badly zoomed in out of focus photos. :) I picked up the SML and Alabaster DePlume album at the merch table. I'd picked up the IVtet album on Saturday.

Jay Bellerose is the shit. Great work with female singers in the past but saw him with Plant and Krauss a few years back and his pocket was a mile deep.
