Surprisingly Jazz by Sun Ra is one of the increasingly small number of Ra albums I DON'T own yet.

Definitely but they were around for a while if memory serves me. I seem to remember seeing the Big Bill Broonzy’s around for at least a few weeks.
Yea--Sun Ra is a much bigger get, especially an unreleased one. From what I remember, Django is a 10" that was put out on LP for this at 45. Big Bill were also 45s. All were cool releases but Sun Ra is in a different stratosphere IMO in terms of collectibility and fan base. I could see these sell out in a week. Django was out for at least a month but I was able to grab one on ebay for $50 or so.

Yeah, Sunny will sell out quick for sure.

Especially given that one is unreleased and the other hasn't had a decent non- grey/boot release since the Japanese reissue in '72 (Sun Song, which is the same album rebranded for Delmark has a 2001 reissue, but it ain't the same art and it ain't KPG!)

It's further worth noting that the recent Dead Currencies 75 LP run of Kingdom of Discipline sold all 75 copies in under half an hour.

We may be smaller in numbers than other fandoms, but we are voracious!

Broonzy lasted online for months but now is only available at a premium. I agree w others, Sun Ra will sell much faster and, while 100 Euros (or more) for a record is sky high, the precedent is set that these Artisan series releases eventually increase in value, so that will bring out buyers who don't care about the music.

I went to buy them after a month or so and one was sold out. I didn't want to only buy one volume so I left it and didn't get it.

Why the assumption that this is in the 'artisan' series? Has that been stated? Hope they are not.
