Jazz

All this talk of Tolliver has me amazed that I bought the Mosaic Select with all of this music (and the previously unreleased Slug's material) in 2005. 20 years sure flew by. Thank you for your posts about the reissues. The CDs sound great so I am curious whether I need to engage in double dipping.

Anyone pick up the new Branford Marsalis Quartet or Nels Cline's Consentrix Quartet records? I recently took delivery of both and they are terrific. Jarrett is a long time love of mine so it's nice to see someone with the huevos to take on the masterwork that Belonging is. This new group from Nels has a lot of compositions that cover a great deal of ground and I am always thrilled to hear Tom Rainey. That guy's work with Tim Berne alone is stupendous, but he seems totally inspired these days due to his relationship with Ingrid Laubrock (who plays tenor here).

One of the Nels Cline tracks autoplayed on Spotify earlier when the album I was listening to finished and it was really good. I don’t remember the track name but I’ll definitely be checking out the full album when I get a minute.

If you’re happy w the CDs and don’t feel some urgent need to have Slugs on vinyl, there’s no need to double dip that I can see. Meyond that, my specific thoughts about Slugs KGs and my previous copies are above so wont repeat them.
