July 2019 Vinyl Challenge

I really need to give this album another chance. Love Dem and I think I went in with DWNR expectations for this album. There’s still a few tracks I play on the regular though.
Midwest represent! ✊

And regarding Moanin’—the King pressings are really nice, but it’s the shipping that jacks them up. This VG+/NM- copy was around $40 but the $15 shipping from Japan really jacked it up. They are really nice presses for the price point and are somewhat universally revered by those who have them. Finding one within the US would be helpful.
It could definitely use some cleaning up. It would be much better as a 10 track album, and a few songs have some really cheesy hooks

Day 24: Label
African Scream Contest - Various

Absolutely love Analog Africa. They consistently put out really great reissues and compilations that they often find digging through collections on the ground in the locations and countries the music is from. The source isn't always great, but it's the only way I'll hear much of the music. Their packaging is always top quality with extensive liner notes for a super reasonable price. I only have 5 of their releases but always have one on my list to buy. I guess I should be prioritizing them more!

Does anyone know of a list of all the indie store exclusives? I can't keep track of what was or wasn't an indie variant of anything.

And it seems Discogs has now made the styles part of the collection search criteria - so anything under "indie rock" gets a hit.

Found one....

Day 26: Indie Exclusive

Some people didn't like this when it came out...it took me a few listens to get into it.

But I've always thought of this as less of a Maynard band - and more Billy Howerdel's. Every album has been slightly different from the previous.
I've liked them all - and you have a different album for whatever mood you are in.

This release is a "indie store exclusive" in white vinyl with an "alternate cover" (but I can't tell what it is an alternate to)
