July 2019 Vinyl Challenge

I immediately thought of that in regards to your post, but Dream On and Love on an Elevator are things I think of before them. I get there is harmonica. I don’t know, I’m not knocking your choice, just.... I’m officially babbling now... so... exit.
If you were watching MTV in the 90s, these guys were putting the harmonica front and center in some of their videos. Think "Pink", "Cryin", "You Don't Know How it Feels." This was way before I started listening to the Blues or even Dylan, Neil young etc so this is where I first made notice of the instrument. I got that honkin on Bobo cd that came with a mini harmonica i put on my keychain to play with

Cool.

I honestly think it is real interesting how different generations can view these legacy bands. I first remember hearing Dude Looks Like a Lady on the radio and then I had Permanent Vacation. Somewhere along the way, I picked up Toys in the Attic and they were a mainstay through most of High School. Pump was really the last time I paid attention to them and for folks behind me to see them as a harmonica band just shows that while they may have adapted themselves out of my interest in them, they definitely had a life after and made as discernible an impression (and from sales possibly more) after. It’s kind of neat.

Edit: Just like Petty being a harmonica guy to you is neat too. To me (and I followed his whole career pretty closely) he was the new wave guy who Jeff Lynne breathed a second life into.

Acts I identify with the Harmonica are Dylan and Young. Blues Traveller. Hell even The Blues Brothers.

They are harmonica players. Steven Tyler especially has been known for playing the harmonica since their debut album and forward during their blues rock ages. Rats in the Cellar? Petty's 2 biggest hits when I got into him had harmonica (Mary Jane's & you don't know how it feels). Sure 90s Petty might be more harmonica heavy, but Aerosmith definitely isn't an age thing..they were my favorite band for a majority of my life

Well, look at that, you learn something every day.

Day 18 - Novelty (not sure what fits, but giving it a shot)

Minus 5 - Stroke Manor

If you don't know Scott's story of his stroke a while back, check out it. Wrote this while in the ICU, unable to speak much.

Great musician and basically the musical mayor of Portland. Such a nice and fun human. Glad to see he came out of it.

They decided to use his brain scan for the cover of the album, and it's got a great colored vinyl. Haven't seen that before! F8FAEA55-57AA-4E0E-A791-3E9C85FD27C2.jpeg
