Kanye

got a pretty good feeling kanye and trump are in cahoots. if kanye can just siphon the minority vote from biden by five points or so its a race agian. so yeah; fuck this guy.

Y you're definitely right. "Minorities" are unsophisticated voters who don't think for themselves. The "minority vote" is very easily swayed by celebrity.

Check that ignorance at the door son

Its always hard to determine sarcasm on line, BUT, regardless of what you feel "celebrity" can sway, doesn't stop celebrity from trying ;)

.........are Trump and Kanye celebrities?

who linked "minority" and what you said? seriously dude; read this thread a little before you come in guns a blazin. im not even going to respond to the rest of your post. try logic and love for a change man. it feels good.

What is objectionable with the post below is not the idea that people can be swayed by celebrity or propaganda or whatever narrative feeds across their facebook page. They certainly are and that is of course a successful political strategy.

What is problematic is the tired trope that the "minority vote" specifically is too unsophisticated, too unthinking, too dumb to make informed political choices. It's a trope founded in black voter supression. It's a trope founded in systemic racial bias.

You literally used the word minority and the term minority vote.
If I'm so wrong about what you were saying just clarify what you meant by the term "minority vote" then.

This is very worrying behaviour from Kanye who seems to be going further off the rails each week. Sadly he is surrounding by a bunch of yea sayers. This is bad for his legacy, bad for his own mental well being and worst of all bad for American politics.

hey @jaycee - youre the only one linking the word "minority" to "unsophisticated, unthinking, dumb". the facts in this country is that kanye is black; who make up 13% of the country. he is therefor a minority in this country. the minority vote for many years unfortunately does not vote for a myriad of reasons (geographics, suppression, etc.) when obama ran, the minority vote turned out huge and helped propel the best candidate (imo) forward and in turn, for the first time in generations brought record turnout with both the youth and minority vote. kanye is voice-ably a trump supporter. an argument can be made therefor that due to his allegiance he might have been swayed / in collusion to dip his toes into the political waters and use that power of celebrity to utilize the same minority that view this man as a de facto leader into turning votes from biden (who isn't especially popular with the youth or minorities - which was sanders' game) to trump / kanye. that siphoning of the vote if biden leads by about 10% or so (depending on what polls you believe) would make it a win win for someone like trump (who is obviously not popular with the minority vote for painfully obvious reasons. if that 10% suddenly turned to something more manageable in the mid single digits - well, you can figure that out.

that said, i minored in political science from a pretty good school. furthermore, it would work a lot better that you don't try to play the race card where none exists. you're assumptions that anyone here (or even myself) linked factual data and your comments are wildly inappropriate. it would be dope if you'd take a step back and see that even though we all have different backgrounds and opinions its pretty obvious nobody here likes trump or his vitriol. nobody here is racist that ive seen. and maybe you shouldn't jump to conclusions or read too much into someones comments and become accusatory unless you have those facts yourself. nobody is out to get you. and nobody here elected you the thought police.

can we now go back to all being friends and objectively enjoying our love of music now?

and kanye is indeed batshit crazy. feel free to read back a few pages and we all covered it. objectively. without being dicks or trying to start something. sending love and positive vibes your way nonetheless.

aloha.

This is extremely gross and detached from reality
This was my EXACT first thought.
This is extremely funny and detched from reality
Dude, we pals and all, but come on...........
Wheres the lie tho? Jay is 100% in the right in this entire back and forth. To assume minorities are going to vote for Kanye because of what? Because he too is a minority? That is racist. If anything Kanye hurts trump in a political race since they are both right wingers. The little bit of polling with Kanye as a candidate shows that. Trumps % goes down a point with Kanye in the race and Bidens stays the same. So not only are the assumptions thrown out there gross, but they also arent even based in reality.

Polling info if you care: Kanye West gets 2 percent in national presidential poll

Ok, I'll "defend" my two comments............
This was my EXACT first thought.
My comment was directed at a specific part of the posters comment, which is why I "Quoted" that part in my response. This had no racial implication AT ALL, it was the first thing that popped into my head when I heard about the convention and deduced from Kanye & Trumps bro-mance.

Dude, we pals and all, but come on...........
I don't care what side of the argument your on, if your argument becomes personal, you lose your credibility.

I continue to be confused how many "angles" conversation can be twisted into. I started blocking people on FB for 30 days for a while, then flat out stopped going to Facebook all together because a lot of my friends and family seem to have lost it, in my opinion, during this administration. While I continue to try and stay within the realm of common sense, fact and respect, others can't seem to do the same thing.

I'll just leave it at that, you guys carry on.
