Fleetwood Mac - Rumours

“Take Your solo, but give others their moments too”

One of the things I really love about this album is the way the three main songwriters each get their chance to shine. Everyone gets their moment and is supported by each other even if they hate each other lol

January 9: Janis Joplin

Janis Joplin,
a legendary American singer and songwriter, played a pivotal role in shaping the landscape of rock music during the 1960s. Her raw and powerful vocal style, coupled with an uninhibited and passionate stage presence, set her apart as an icon of the counterculture movement. Joplin's importance lies in her ability to break traditional gender norms in the music industry, proving that women could be just as influential and rebellious as their male counterparts. Her enduring legacy endures through her timeless hits like "Piece of My Heart" and "Mercedes Benz," as well as her impact on subsequent generations of musicians who continue to draw inspiration from her fearless and authentic approach to music.

I was thinking about Janis yesterday and then grabbed this card. The oracles speak! I am fortunate to know one of her family members, so I've always felt an extra connection to her.

Janis' voice is unmistakable. Let this card guide you today - whether you throw on some Janis herself, someone who was influenced by her, or someone who has a voice you recognize the second you hear it!

"Knock 'em dead, then leave."

A double shot of knocking 'em dead and then leaving from the same festival and the same record...

January 7: Amy Winehouse

An artist who left this earth too soon...

Not many folks ascend into the ether at the age of 26 having left us with a new genre of music. Cosmic American Music to be more precise...

Everlasting influence. How many of you knew this existed.,.

Two voices i instantly recognize are the ones of Chris Eckmann and Carla Togerson, the lead vocalists in the Walkabouts. They recorded a bunch of fantastic and are one of the bands where i never understood why the were not bigger

I don't own any Janis Joplin, as I'm not really a fan. The only thing in my collection that returns after a search of "Janis Joplin" is this - as it has a cover of the song "Move Over". I'm surprised there is no soundtrack that uses a track from her.
