Let The Music Oracles Speak: The January Vinyl Spin Challenge Thread

January 26: Lady Gaga

Beyond her musical prowess, Lady Gaga's bold and distinctive fashion choices became synonymous with her brand. She pushed the boundaries of conventional pop culture aesthetics, embracing avant-garde and often theatrical ensembles that captivated the public's attention. Whether it was the infamous meat dress or her futuristic glam persona, Gaga's fashion became a form of artistic expression that mirrored her fearless approach to creativity. Additionally, her advocacy for LGBTQ+ rights, mental health awareness, and other social issues endeared her to fans who appreciated her authenticity and commitment to using her platform for positive change. Lady Gaga's popularity is not just about her music; it's a result of her multi-faceted artistry, unique persona, and genuine connection with her audience.

You could replace Lady Gaga with Björk in this sentence (and meat dress with swan dress) and still be spot on.

January 25: Marvin Gaye

I picked up this Bill Withers boxset for a song last year and hadn't torn into it yet, so figured this prompt fit the bill for Bill. I went with the one I'm most familiar with.

How do you like your NAD cd player? Which one is it? I’ll be buying a player/transport soon. (Leaning hard on the new jbl but curious your thoughts)

For the price I have no complaints. I know there are nicer more expensive options, but I like the way it looks and it plays CDs on the rare occasion that's what I reach for. I honestly understand the differences in CD player technology way less than turntable tech, which I still only partially understand, so 🤷 For me as long as it worked I just wanted something that looked good in my price range. I'll save the other considerations for the vinyl system.

Yeah the jbl and leak are front runners because of their aesthetic. If money were no object I’d probably buy the Marantz 30N.

I agree on the leak for sure. Not familiar with the JBL.

Nice. I like that. Very clean front but the walnut looks classic.
