Let's See What Makes Your Vinyl Spin!

Definitely not an overnight decision. Had I not wanted to switch cartridges easily, I would have kept the MoFi.
Similar to me. I have no mono switch and I've been thinking of a mono Ortofon 2M for my PLX on a swappable headshell. Evolving needs dictate different equipment; that's how I ended up with two separate set-ups.

Yeah same here with my GR purchase (well besides the misfire with the 1500c). For me it was mostly motivated by wanting to buy something new and nice that will last when I’m still young and free of major bills and by getting sick of the frustrations of vintage decks.

But there’s totally a point where you can get to good enough and you’re dropping hundreds squeeze another drop from the lemon. As much as I hear a better sense of timing and bass with my new deck, my old one wasn’t bad. In fact I just did a few needledrops of the two setups, a bit closer than I’d like to admit! I suppose I’m in the unique position of taking my entire rig and moving rooms so I’m getting a pretty clear perspective of what the change was.

TBH I think there is an unfortunate perception that every piece of gear is pitted against each other in this hobby. Not everything is a “giant killer” that “destroys” what you had before, that’s YouTube thumbnail nonsense.
My favorite audiophile trope is the “this gear outperforms everything at twice the price”. You can just stop reading anything that says that.

And then there is system synergy. It’s difficult to describe but you know when you hit it. The trick is to know to stop.

Oh totally. The funny thing is hauled my old system into my office bit by bit. My new setup started with the receiver, my GF wanted a remote one so the Pioneer went into my office with a AT120 she had. Got annoyed by the built-in phono stage so brought the MoFi in and got a new PS for the living room. Went through a few pairs of vintage speakers I didn’t get along with. By the end I gave up and just put everything back the way it was 😂. Waste of time and money to not just move the setup from the get go but proved the whole “if it ain’t broke” philosophy.

Okay technically this doesn't make my vinyl spin but... I needed some new dividers because I decided to make a separate Hip Hop section. Found these wooden ones on Etsy for crazy cheap. They will write whatever you want on them, and they came from Latvia of all places but they did a great job. It's basically burned/etched into the wood.

Oh wow! They’re gorgeous! Can you give me a link to the seller’s store? Latvia is nearer to me and I’ve wanted something like that for ages but balked at the price of the Kate Koppel ones.

They're ya go. Crazy cheap and they have many many different styles. These are not full jacket sized dividers. They are small, like 3 inch high. So you MIGHT not want to use them in very very packed shelves as the records will be pressed up against them. But I don't think it would be an issue generally.

Cheers! I’m sure it will be all good!

A-Z one's straight to my want list.

How was shipping costs ?

Well that's the crazy thing. It cost $7.00 shipping.

Now granted, they shipped it wrapped in saran wrap in an unprotected shipping bag. So YMMV. But I mean 26 dividers are a whole $50. So honestly if a couple get damaged and you need a few more, who cares...

Yeah it seems to be free shipping to here, so I’m guessing that’s a European thing. It really does seem so cheap that you wonder where the margin is for him!

I fully expected it to never show up, or be just the cheapest looking thing but... It's pretty much exactly as pictured on the site. I'd say if I was to do it again I would have requested a slightly bigger font size but otherwise I'm very impressed.

Those remind me of the Kallax shelf stoppers that were the rage last year. I got twenty of those for about the same price, they do the trick. I'm guessing the wood is, ahem, inexpensive.

Sides and ends can be used interchangeably, in this case they can mean the same thing
Yeah it MAY be a little tough to explain to the Latvian shop owners what exactly it is you're talking about. But I do notice that they also do full cut outs. Which would solve the issue. Although I might be a wee bit concerned about the shipping packaging if you're getting cut outs... A little more fragile...
