Day 16: Play a long album (aim for over 60 minutes) KRUDER & DORFMEISTER - THE K&D SESSIONS™
A special shoutout to @tvham for unwittingly helping me decide to choose this one. A Trip-Hop masterpiece, while technically a compilation; it feels like an album as much as anything. Spread across̶̶ 5 LPs this is still a breeze to enjoy. Perfect for a Saturday WFH session.
I am forever going to beat the drum for Scharpling and Wurster. The Best Show came to me at a time I needed it and changed me. I was going to play my copy of Rock, Rot and Rule but it seems to be misshelved. Here’s the YouTube link. If you choose to listen to it, let me know how you like it.
Since I can’t find my copy, it was time to dust off this David Sedaris record which has been neglected.
Is there a line in all of recorded music that encapsulates the weight of maturity better than, “you gotta go to court, ha / you got served a subpoena for child support, ha”?
Combining Days 15 and 16 since this one is very long
Day 15: An album that makes you laugh
Pavement - Brighten the Corners
Have you ever wondered if Geddy Lee speaks like an ordinary guy?
Day 16: Play a long album
Pavement - Brighten the Corners: Nicene Creedence Ed.
2hrs35mins over 4LPs. Contains some more funny stuff to go along with the double day. "Harness Your Hopes" is Malkmus's punchliney-est sing rap and some renditions of the "Space Ghost Theme" end the album. Plus there's a song titled "Neil Haggerty Meets John Spencer In A Non-Alcholic Bar."
An excellent dose of chill summery dance music that should be appreciated by fans of The Avalanches, the CD/digital clocks in at over 78 minutes. The vinyl kicks things up a notch with two full LPs, and a 7" with the final track plus one more song on the flip side. Fun and relaxing, it never really feels that long.
Stoner rock from Ioannina in Greece. Melodic vocals, heavy riffs, and traditional Greek countryside music combine to make one of my favorite albums of last year. I randomly found this on Bandcamp and I’ve been chasing that high ever since. If this is just hiding on Bandcamp what other gems are there that I don’t know about‽
