Movies

Nothing against the movie which is fantastic but I kinda wish ABC had picked up the pilot. An early 2000s David Lynch TV show based in LA could have been something special.
This post reminded me that I still have never watched Twin Peaks. I've tried to start it on a couple different occasions but just never stick with it 😕 I'm horrible at keeping up with TV shows in general. But I feel like it's a big blind spot with Lynch I need to correct at some point.

Once that first season gets going it is just dealing heat the whole time.

Turning Red and the Adam Project are both movies that should have been in theaters too IMO. There are a real lack of family movies in theaters right now (they're still trotting out Sing 2 out of desperation) and The Adam Project probably could have been a slow grower hit given its niche is also lacking much representation. It's a bummer, I get the reason why for the Adam Project at least (Netflix owned) but Disney's decision to shelve a third straight Pixar movie from a theater release sucks.

There is a *lot* to be said about what Disney's decision not to put Turning Red in theaters says about them as a company. Especially considering what we now know about the movie's production and Disney's recent support of a certain bill.

Mulholland Drive rules. That is all.

I need to revisit it; it was my first Lynch and sixteen year-old me didn't like it. I glommed onto plottier Lynch like Blue Velvet and Twin Peaks. I think TP The Return tuned me into the right frequency, though, and now all the things I disliked about Lynch (purposely stilted performances, odd mannerisms, deliberate digressions) are some of my favorite aspects of his work.

Mulholland drive is a perfect bridge between 'plottier' Lynch, and then the fucking crazy stuff (Inland Empire, The Return). So if you liked S3 of TP you will like Mulholland Drive! Perfect companion piece with Lost Highway.
