I can't wait to watch this. I've tried several times, but the wife keeps vetoing it. So next time she crashes early I'm going for it.Finally got around to Infinity Pool (uncut) last night via Neon's direct VOD rental. Yet another big win for Brandon Cronenberg and the Cronenberg family film dynasty in my book. (Looking forward to Caitlin Cronenberg's feature debut soon!)
Infinity Pool swaddles Brandon's burgeoning conceptual chops in what feels like his most accessible presentation yet (graphic content aside, of course). This movie is so much fun with great pacing, a sharp script, and fantastic performances by Mia Goth and Alexander Skarsgard.
I avoided trailers and promos, and watching them now, I feel it's better to not know as much going in, so I'm not going to link one here, but if you love conceptual sci-fi, body horror, and explosive character dynamics, this one's def worth your time and your dollars.
Everything Everywhere is the 5th film in history to sweep the major guild awards (DGA, PGA, WGA and SAG). Every other film to do so won best picture. There's no indicator for what's even in 2nd place. It's winning. I'm more excited to see how the acting categories turn out!I love Everything Everywhere All At Once, and although so many signs indicate it winning Best Picture I just have this strong feeling that's not going to happen. That's my big prediction for tonight. I do want Michelle Yeoh and Stephanie Hsu to win their categories so badly though.

Yeah, but has nevertheless been in some great movies. (Including Liberty Valance!)Never understood the fascination with John Wayne. He plays the same character in every movie. He's basically the cowboy version of The Rock.

I'll defend it. She's great in a unique roll and did a ton of heavy lifting for the movie on the awards trail, so I'm not mad about it. I would've voted for Condon or Hsu, but this is alright. Bassett's would have been a career win as well.I love JLC and Everything Everywhere, but that has career award written all over it.
I kinda feel this way too, but at the same time, if you gotta give someone a career award, it might as well be Laurie Strode herself. Personally I thought Stephanie Hsu's performance was much more deserving.I love JLC and Everything Everywhere, but that has career award written all over it.
That is true, on both counts, although Liberty Valance drags a little at the end with the whole Statehood thing and long speeches. Also funny how John Wayne walks into a bar, drinks one shot and starts yelling at everyone and throws things and stumbles out like he's shitfaced, all within 2 min. hahaYeah, but has nevertheless been in some great movies. Oh, I'm not mad, but I'm also Team Hsu even if we're just talking EEAAO.I'll defend it. Hsu deserved it so much more. I’m honestly baffled by the love of JLC in EEAAO. I think she was my least favorite part of the film and in no way is it an Oscar worthy performance to me. Hsu on the other hand really blew me away.Oh, I'm not mad, but I'm also Team Hsu even if we're just talking EEAAO.
