Movies

Tonight feels super gratifying as a longtime A24 fan. It's fantastic to see cinematic undercurrents gain greater prominence. And just as the film industry should take notes on the studio's curative, creative ethos, any patron-based subscription/club program should take note of how well they're treating their most avid fans with A24 All Access (AAA24).

If anyone's been waffling on the thought of joining AAA24, my experience has been more than worth the $55 annual cost. Initially, I was happy with the bimonthly zines, screening room discounts, and theater ticket deals, but then my birthday rolled around and they absolutely floored me. Where most sites/stores auto-blast out a piddly 5–10% discount code as a birthday pittance, AAA24 opens up a section of their merch site and says, "What do you want?" Insane! (I picked a trio of assorted film title coffee mugs since I already owned a few of the other offered items.)
I have kept my subscription since they started it too. The screening rooms are a nice perk but they’ve also sent out free movie tickets which is crazy. The birthday gift is the best though. I got a long sleeve shirt cause the selection wasn’t huge and it was the best option. Not bad at all

First of the "meh's". Everything from story to CGI was meh. Considered skipping it since, except for General Ross, there's not really a connection to the other movies outside of a couple of words. No Betty, no Emil/Abomination, no Leader. Banner is played by someone else, Hulk design is completely different.

It plays like the godfather in comparison to anything in phase 4.

Not to get too spoilery, but Abomination does show up later.

It’s a Marvel movie. It’s hard to begrudge a multi million dollar studio supe movie that helps move diversity mostly in the right direction. Marvel movies are always exceptionally cast too. But we’re 50 hours into this universe and my patience has worn very thin.
Shang-Chi was a significant bright spot in Phase 4 for me, enough so that it probably cracks my (otherwise stagnant) Top 5 of the MCU. It made me feel giddy for its loving odes to popular wuxia films that I remember watching with complete awe (House of Flying Daggers, Hero, etc.). If it weren't for that, I wouldn't have even batted an eye at your statement. :ROFLMAO:

Also, Martin Starr's character in this film appears in three more films later for what it's worth

Martin Starr has a brief appearance in the film as the Computer Nerd. Nine years later, Starr appears as a teacher in Spider-Man: Homecoming (2017). One theory in the Marvel Cinematic Universe is that Starr's character in this film is the younger version of his character in the latter film working on his degree. This was later confirmed by Kevin Feige who produced both films as well at the rest of the MCU.

Don´t care to much fpr the all quiet on the western front awards, but i am happy for Hauschka to bag the music award for the movie. Saw him a couple of times and his prepared piano music was always great
