Movies

A solid Sunday afternoon movie.

I don't honestly know if I've ever seen a Tom Cruise film but I've never liked the guy
I wrote a book report about him in like 4th grade. At that point in time, he was just a tiny little awkward guy who overcame some improbable odds to become a movie star.

The vinyl listening room scene in one of the more recent Mission Impossibles was pretty cool.

Very interesting franchise in that it sort of jumped to a crazy high level of quality and critical reception mid-way through and also in that I forget everything that happened before each time I watch a new one. For all I know, it’s the same story every time where the team gets framed and has to clear their name. Excited to see the new one when it hits streaming.

You summed it up well: there’s a villain in the new one who, flashbacks show, had a crucial role in Ethan’s development; I had to google whether they appear in earlier movies. I think it’s to the franchise’s credit that they can slot in light retconning and not let it upset the flow.

For those that buy A24 releases -

Everything Everywhere All At Once: Collector's Edition

The link below says "standard Blu Ray", but it's also available in 4K

I already have the Walmart variant of the regular release, but I do like these A24 special collector sets, so I'll probably buy this one, too.

I only have Midsommar and The Last Black Man In San Francisco but i've been tempted to pick up the others. Only thing really stopping me is i have the regular 4K releases. The Lighthouse was only blu-ray but Arrow Video dropped their own 4K release around the same time as A24 so i'm still debating which version to get.
