Movies

I know the remastering of the original is/was considered sacrilegious but I’d welcome it if done correctly. It seems no different than remastering classic albums. Fans should be given the option to enjoy either.
I have A New Hope on DVD and it had the original version a the updated version and while I agree that a good chunk of the more noticeable additions of CGI were mostly superfluous. The actual meat of the movie looked much better overall. The prequels you would assume would be fairly easy to clean up knowing how much CGI was used to begin with. I bet with the 20 years of advancements they could make it look so much better especially in a 4K HD world we now live in.

Taking a look at this and seems the prequels received some modifications in later editions, but nothing extensive

The big battle sequence feels like something from a PS2 video game. Seeing what they have done with new films and video games over the last decade, it seems like it would be a worthwhile endeavor. They could even rerelease them to theaters like they did with the original trilogy.

I'd rather stick with my Harmy Despecialized Editions of the Holy Trilogy.
And that is completely understandable. My thing is it’s a more significant change for the OG bring CGI into those films since they were originally constructed without. But the Prequels were mostly film on giant green screen soundstages and built for CGI. I feel like advancements there would make those movies look markedly better without taking away from the movies as a whole.

I don’t think many who grew up with the prequels will be longing for the inferior cgi of their childhood.

I just can't bring myself to watch Attack of the Clones. When I took my oldest to watch The Phantom Menace back in May, the CGI still looked pretty good to me. I have many problems with the prequels but the top among those is George didn't use a less is more approach especially when it came to battles. I think Disney is in too much of a cost-cutting phase to spend anything more for something that won't net them more money at the theater or on Disney+. The best hope for that died when the prequels in 3D never was completed. I think that was when Disney bought Lucasfilm.

Yeah, I think this year is the 25th anniversary for the Phantom Menace and if they aren’t doing anything for that then they probably aren’t gonna do it.

Finally getting to watch this.

Yes. Lucas relinquished all control but I have a feeling he stipulated certain uses that could be made or not made. That's why I feel we'll never get un-Specialized editions of the OT. The special editions are his editions now.
Why I'm mostly pretty against this shit. It shouldn't be really hard to watch movies as they originally were. These especially are dragged down by the garish late 90s CGI.
