Movies

I'm rereading the books of these right now because a 4th one just came out. Once I'm done this is getting a rewatch (it's a fairly vibe-faithful adaptation that changes a ton of things, so it's very interesting from an adaptation standpoint).
I like the movie but love the book.

Thanks for reminding me to check out Absolution.

I purchased Area X: The Southern Reach Trilogy few years back and devoured it prior to the movies release. I am happy there’s a new book but sad how it will look on my bookshelf.

Same.

Second ever streamed movie. I really hate closed caption subs, especially for a movie like this with barely any dialog, because it was just constant "sigh", "groans", "creaking noise", "music plays", "music stops", "exhales", "breathes", "clicking sound", "screams".....

This was one of my favorites last year.

PSA: The Substance is streaming exclusively on MUBI as of today!
Mubi is pretty generous with trial offers (e.g. you can get 7 days free on Prime, etc.). If you're new to join, you can get 30 days free through a referral by current members (before creating an account with your email, I believe). Happy to provide referrals on request. Any other members willing to refer as well?

That time of year.

One thing that has always bothered me with Halloween is that in the beginning, Laurie walks to school, meets Tommy (also walking to school), stops by the Meyers place, walks home from school with Annie and Lynda. But later Annie picks her up at 6 PM, it's bright out, and they're driving what seems like across town and when they finally arrive it's night time. So, how far are they all walking to and from school every day? Lol
