Needles & Grooves AoTM /// Vol. 1 - July 2019 Lou Reed - The Blue Mask

So should I order Blue Mask? What's a good reasonably available pressing of this?

Lou Reed remastered his entire career before he died so the current edition is artist approved. His RCA & Arista Vinyl collection vol. 1 has an embarrassment of riches. A casual fan would have little need to go for a second volume, if one ever appears. It is that version that is the commonly available single disc

Original pressings also very good and fairly common to find in the wild

Oooooh. I think I want that box instead. I don't think it's too late to cancel my order. I've been meaning to get Rock & Roll Animal and Transformer anyway. It's a better option in the long run.

But honestly it’s a great box set. It also has Berlin, Street Hassle, Coney Island Baby. Some of the 70s best albums in there. Sounds lovely and with a nice booklet. I just wonder why they put all his greatest albums in the first set. Probably why Vol 2 hasn’t appeared. While I would appreciate a new copy of Sally Can’t Dance, Take No Prisoners and Metal Machine Music I doubt the casual listener will fall for this release.

On the old Ouija board theme, my favourite part of this track (apart from Kathy Burke’s supernatural appearance) are the lines at the end

The table is rumbling
The glass is moving
"No, I was not pushing that time"
It spells : S.T.E.V.E.N
The table is rumbling
The glass is moving
"No, I was not pushing that time" :
P.U.S.H.O. double F.

Just watching it now, I forgot Joan Sims from the Carry On movies also appears in it.
