Would love to hear your perspective on Transformer. It’s a great pop album, Mick Ronson and Bowie do a great job producing and arranging it and Lou brought fringe groups to wider consciousness through these songs. Perfect Day is about heroin btw

Yea I got that part, but the first verse is not my normal picture of someone on Heroin. But you know I've never been around anyone like that. I've led a pretty staid life. Just tea and cucumber sandwiches in the garden for me!!!

I think people on drugs wander around trying to do these normal things too. In their heads they are keeping it together and enjoying an experience. Only to outsiders they are obviously wrecked on illicit substances.

The Velvets stuff deserves all the praise it gets - those 4 albums all break new boundaries and are the dark side of the tracks. He often doesn’t get the credit he deserves as a ballad writer and songsmith, that third Velvet Underground album in particular. It’s like overhearing two lovers whispering to each other, so delicate, personal and intimate.
